D day (draft day) is on Aug. 23.. the big question is.. will Parks join the draft??
Here's an interesting article from spin.ph
Here's order of selection in PBA Rookie Draft. See your favorite team's turn | PBA | SPIN.PH
WITH the 40th season of the PBA coming to a close, focus is now expected to shift to the rookie draft set on August 23 at Robinsons Place in Manila.
In an effort to have a clear picture of how the draft proceedings will be going, Spin.ph did an informal computation on how the 12 teams fared in the season about to end and determine the order of drafting in the first round.
Based on the league’s computation where 40 percent of the weight is given to a team’s finish in the Philippine Cup and 30 percent each in the Commissioner’s and Governors’ Cup respectively, expansion team Blackwater earned the right to pick No. 1 overall after getting the lowest accumulative points of 12.
Unlike in the past, there will be no draft lottery this time in order to level the field for the two expansion teams, including Kia Carnival, which got no concessions during their maiden season in the league.
Blackwater’s supposed No. 1 pick, however, had already been dealt to Talk n Text in a complex trade that also involved veteran Larry Rodriguez that saw the two teams swap picks in the first round.
The Tropang Texters are expected to use the top pick on Fil-Tongan big man Moala Tautuaa.
But before we go down the line, let us stress that the likely selections were determined under the premise that Bobby Ray Parks will not join the draft. If he does, the two-time UAAP MVP's presence is expected to shake up the drafting order, from top to bottom.

Kia, which placed 11th in the first two conferences before settling for a 10th place finish after nearly making the playoffs of the Governors Cup, is a cinch to select at No. 2 with an accumulative of 10.7 points.
The pick of the Columbian Autocar Corporation, however, is reportedly being pursued by different teams, particularly Talk ‘N Text, Star, Ginebra, and NLEX.
Whichever get to draft at no. 2 will most likely tab National University’s agile center Troy Rosario.
Sources told Spin.ph though that the Manny V. Pangilinan group is likewise considering Rosario for the No. 1 selection after the NU stalwart played a stellar role with the Gilas cadet team that retained the basketball gold in the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore under coach Tab Baldwin.
NLEX comes next at third with 8.8 points, although the pick had already been given to Rain or Shine, which might go for either prolific Ateneo guard Chris Newsome or La Salle big man Norbert Torres.
Another MVP team in Meralco ends up picking at No. 4 after acquiring the rights from GlobalPort through a complex six-player trade in January 2013. The Bolts will most likely pick whoever will be left out by Rain or Shine between Newsome and Torres.
The fifth pick, originally owned by Barako Bull with an accumulated 7.5 points, belongs to Barangay Ginebra which could go for anyone among Scottie Thompson, Baser Amer, Art dela Cruz, and Garvo Lanete.
The younger brother of Barako Bull guard Chico Lanete, though, appeared to have the edge as he served as San Beda star guard under current Ginebra coach Frankie Lim.
The sixth pick previously held by Ginebra (6.8 points), is now with NLEX, which has its eyes set on Amer, a brainy point guard which coach Boyet Fernandez said the team clearly lacks.
Meralco’s second selection in the first round - the team’s original pick - is at No. 7 and will most likely be used to select among the players that Ginebra bypasses. The Bolts also have the option to go for former NU forward Glenn Khobuntin.
The Star Hotshots will pick eighth (4.9 points) and might opt for Fil-Canadian wonder Ryan Wetherell. Problem is, the former USC Trojan plays the same spot as youngster Justin Melton, so the Hotshots can also opt for Dela Cruz, the scrappy San Beda forward, if he is still available.
Blackwater picks next, with the draft right originally owned by Talk ‘N Text, and is expected to either go for the players bypassed by Ginebra or the franchise can snare former La Salle star guard Almond Vosotros at No. 9.
Despite still in the hunt for a championship in the Governors Cup, San Miguel’s woeful campaign in the Commissioner’s Cup locked up for the Beermen the 10th pick, which they recently shipped to NLEX in a trade that involved high-scoring guard Joseph Yeo.
NLEX could be looking for the likes of Wetherell, Thompson, or it can go for former Minnesota University 6-foot-2 guard Maverick Ahanmisi.
Whether it ends up winning the Governors’ Cup or not, Alaska will exercise its draft rights at No. 11, where it might go for former Far Eastern University big man Russell Escoto or streak-shooting Fil-American Jawhar Purdy, a creative guard with a good touch from afar.
After consistent playoff appearances this season, Rain or Shine wraps up the first round and is expected to go for former UE Red Warriors star Roi Sumang or Purdy, if still available.
The coming Draft is expected to be very deep considering the huge number of talent expected to apply.
Here is the quick rundown of the first and second round - unofficial - draft orders as compiled and tabulated by Spin.ph.
