You say it as if the Fortuner isn't practical. The Fortuner is just as practical as an Innova, but with better looks, more features, and a stronger engine. FC isn't all that different as well. A diesel Innova AT will probably do around 9-10 km/L in moderate traffic, while a Fortuner can do about 8-9, all things kept equal.

An Innova 2.5G AT costs 1.178M. A Fortuner 2.5V costs 1.495M. For roughly 300k more, you get the ff:
    - more powerful engine (144 hp vs 102)
    - leather seats
    - HID
    - touch screen HU w/ Bluetooth and GPS
    - power-folding side mirrors
    - higher ground clearance
    - larger wheels
    - higher flood wading height
    - and of course, better looks

These additional goodies are enough to convince people to get a Fortuner over the Innova if they can afford it anyway.

Mag kalayo man 1km/l - 2km/l. Sa Ground clearance. Mag kaiba.

Speaking of practical.

(Haven't rode a fortuner yet though.)

    all other variables being equal...
generally, the higher the seat off the ground, the more magnified the movements..
... laws of trigonometry, i.e., the lever. the longer the lever arm, the more magnified the movement.
and because the fortuner is a taller vehicle than the innova, the fortuner passenger sits higher off the ground than the innova passenger..

that's probably why limousines tend to hug the ground.. to minimize lateral movement of the passenger seat.
