June Mar Fajardo on Rain or Shine's physical plays: "Napikon ako"

PETRON big man June Mar Fajardo was quick to admit his emotions got the better of him following a highly-physical Game 2 of the PLDT myDSL-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Three times the sophomore center lost his cool against his defenders, none more significant than the one against Larry Rodriguez with whom he had a shoving incident during the Blazers’ 94-103 loss.

"Napikon lang ako," said Fajardo in his deep, baritone voice. "Sobrang physical niya kaya biglang uminit 'yung ulo ko, so ayun."

But the soft-spoken native of Cebu asserted the physicality of the game went out of hand especially in the fourth quarter when the Boosters obviously lost focus in the game.

As a result, the team now finds itself in an 0-2 hole in the best-of-seven series, with Game 3 set on Saturday.

But Fajardo admitted he can’t do anything about the physicality of the game, especially with no less than a berth in the Finals at stake in the series.

And that’s the reason why he always reminds himself to keep his composure especially with the coming games expected to be more intense.

"Part ng game 'yun," he said. "Wala na tayo magagawa doon, nangyari na. Mag-a-adjust na lang kami."

Aside from Rodriguez, Fajardo also had some physical confrontations with rookie Raymund Almazan and Gilas Pilipinas teammate and mentor Beau Belga.

"Dapat maging kalma lang ba, di pwedeng maging mainit `yung ulo kasi mahirap na," he added.

Despite the sorry loss, Fajardo said all is not loss for Petron.

"Kaya pa naman yan basta magtutulungan. (Pero) dismayado kasi talo nga," he said. "Pero positive lang kami wala namang imposible."

The problem is simple, entry passer is stupid.

Tignan mo namang pinaghihirapan ni kraken yung position tapos hindi ibibigay yungb bola. Biglang ititira sa labas. Stupid guards and passers.

Coach nila mahina din, sa low post, ang pinaka-effective na pag-entry ay kung may repost na nangyayari. Pinipilit kasi nila na nasa loob agad nang shaded lane, dami tuloy nakatabi sa kanya. Ball movement on top and the repost in the lw block can do wonders for them if they want to establish junemar. Hindi naman dapat palagi din para everybody get's a chance to shot at hindi manlamig gaya nang nangyari kay arwind.

Pero sana hindi gawin nang PBB yan, sa RoS ako eh. hehe. Go extra rice inc.

pagdating ng 4th naging lalong phusical na yun laro, parang naging mga tirang takot na
hindi na naka adjust dun sa depensang binigay ng ROS

Kitang-kita nga na hindi kaya sumabay nang PBB sa RoS kung pisikalan.

Speed and ball movement talaga puwede tumalo sa RoS, malakas kasi individual defenders nila from PG to C. Lalo na si Norwood at Lee. Malalaki na mabibilis for their position eh.
