    The first thing to do is stop working on the disk. Mount it as a secondary drive and then perform a recovery using disk-recovery tools. A lot of the tools in the web are available for purchase, though you might find a freeware. You may take a look here:

    Try searching this in google: "getdataback". So far, we've successfully recovered crashed HDD and accidental re-formats.

    GetDataBack is what we also uses and it can even retrieve data even how many times you reformat the disk.

    Thanks guys. Trying GetDataBack now. I had to go back to step 1. It has been 2 days already, ang parang di na nagrespond ung application. Ganon ba talaga?

    BTW, my external HDD is 300GB.

    Recovery will be faster if....

    If you have a Desktop PC, remove the 300GB from the USB enclosure and install it internally on the PC.

    You would also need 2nd Hard Disk to write recovered files.
