nag tingin ako and d-link and linksys yung usual brand costing around 2K.

basic points to consider in buying wireless adapters???

other suggestions (like other brands etc.)

wala pa ako budget for a new laptop kaya adapter muna.

    tnx!!!

Pwedeng makisakay sa thread mo hehe...

When people say kailangan i-"repack" yung battery, what does it mean? Papalitan yung cells sa loob? On average, how much to?

Thinking of getting a laptop kasi, and madalas pang 2nd hand medyo short na ang battery life.

Paps, repacking involves changing the battery cells... last time I inquire nasa 450 per cell... but that was a few months ago na...

Just dont get Asus adapter. MY notebook is an Asus (with wifi) and my officemate has an Asus adapter, connectivity to our wifi drops every now and then. Others using different brands of notebooks are ok. I think it has something to do with the driver of the wifi adapter.Btw, our router is a Linksys.

I bought a Linksys Wireless G PCMCIA adapter for my old Toshiba laptop. Mahina ang pickup ng signal nung Linksys. Hina ng signal if I try to connect sa 2nd floor bedroom (access point ko nasa living room).

I suggest you bring your notebook to test out the signal strength when you want to buy a wireless adapter card. You can choose between Linksys, DLink, Aztech, Belkin, or Netgear. Try to find one with an antenna, I think it will be able to pickup wireless signals much better.

    Turn-off Wireless Zero Configuration.

START->RUN "services.msc" then "stop" Wireless Zero...

    That should fix it.

You can buy any Taiwan brand wireless pcmcia 54g adapter. Much cheaper than the branded versions. Mas makakatipid ka pa.

The branded & taiwan adapters basically use the same chipsets..
for example... a linksys usb wireless adapter has the same chipset used by an edimax PCI wireless adapter - RaLink.

Try buying edimax.

Rule of thumb is buy a cheap adapter but buy the branded router. That's the practical, cost-saving solution.

Do you have any other wireless devices in the vicinity? Also, older cordless phones can interfere with the wireless device.

Here at home, the wireless autosensor that allows our washing machine and drier to "talk" to each other interferes with the pc wireless reception. It's not quite strong enough to make the pc wireless signal drop off. But, it is slowed down quite a bit.

Given those variables, the problem is with the router (and/or its signal) in your office.

Pekto is correct. change the channel of your router. Recommended are 1, 6 & 11...

FYI. And ang Smart Bro uses the 5Ghz range??? Just got this information from a reliable source....

Horsepower - to be more detailed, Smart Bro uses 802.11a technology which means maganda yang wireless card mo sa laptop baka a/b/g kaya or a/g.
