How about for new laptops pre-installed with Vista, pangit pa rin ba?

winME (sablay) > XP (success) > vista (sablay) > se7en (soon to find out)...pero ngayon beta testing ako ng windows se7en, i`d say pinaka ok sa windows systems so far...

I might be showing my age...

    From my point of view:
    Windows 1.0 - failed
    Windows 3.0/3.1/3.11 - successful
    Windows NT4.0 - successful
    Windows 95 - failed
    Windows 98/98se - successful
    Windows 2000 - failed
    Windows ME - failed
    Windows XP - successful
    Windows Vista - failed
Windows 7 - yet to be determined

Why force your PC with Vista? You can get the same eyecandy experience with XP and 3d party software without the lag.

True but often with the linux alternative, there are short comings like certain Windows applications or games not being available or not runs well under linux. Even with title alternatives for the same function, sometimes you just really need that particular title and substitutes would not be good enough.

format po yan. the old vista files will just bring the space down. speedy vista 4.0 ay nasa 653 Mb lang yung installer. but most drivers needs to be installed manualy. and Aero theme needs to be activated manualy too...

just saw someone on a cafe with vista laptop. sad to say the animation/effects are lag.

Nice to hear that Win7 seems to be a better product than Vista, at least in performance. Hopefully it would have better hardware driver support like XP.

Yup. The laptop would probably run 50% faster if it was using XP. Why do you think new computers these days are offered with Vista built-in with an option of downgrading to XP? Vista is a failed product to deliver on its claims, too much bloat-were which ends up eating too much resources and ends up slowing down every computer except those running with the fastest PC hardware around.
