We use OpenOffice in the office. Currently ver 2.2 for most computers but upgrading to ver 3.1 (for MS Office 2007 compatibility) ...
It's free and compatible to MS Office. It also works almost like MS Office (word, excel) so very little re-training is needed to use the applications like Write and Calc.
Biggest advantage is it lowers the software cost per computer (to be legal).

MS Office 2007 Enterprise on the main pc
MS Office 2008 for Mac on the Mac Mini
MS Office 2003 Professional on the wife's laptop
Sun Open Office + Mozilla Thunderbird on the remaining pc's
