recently, I spent half a day calculating what's my best option... (though I ended just upgrading my old PC with a video card)

this was my best come up...

    ECS G31TM-L (1333FSB) 2,150.00
    +
    Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 3,650.00
    +
    2GB DDR2 PC800 Kingston 950.00
    =6800

use your old atx+power supply nalang...

what is great about this, is the mobo has a lame built-in video card good enough for simple task. then the mobo is 45Nm ready for core2dou,quad, 1333 Bus etc.. for future processor upgrade, and pci-e 16x slot. and DDR2 is atleast PC800 capable... with IDE+sata2

plus the Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is 45Nm. below that model are 65Nm na...

With enough RAM (2gig) it can be pretty zippy. For sure you won't be running Photoshop or running DOTA on it but don't discount it until you have a chance to actually use one.

you could check out buyqube.com. they have low-cost PC packages there and the casing is relatively small. meron din silang delivery service.

OT: i wonder why thumbs down ang lumabas dun sa title ng reply ko?

I've used One, Acer Aspire One. In fact, i want to buy One to use it as a 24/7 always-on computer (for checking stuffs online), but i'm waiting for the Atom Duo version after i got wind of its coming since it's the same price anyway.

For general use, I don't recommend it. For quick internet stuffs and maybe messengers, sure it will do.

There's another platform to wait for by the way,

Atom Duo on Nvidia 9400M chipset.

Full HD capability. meaning i can use it to drive a 24" LCD panel (though 22" would be best i think).

    kaya ba sa P10k-P12k?
there are second hand units being sold in PCBodega (in SM Mega and Southmall), Compaq P4, with DASD, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB DASD, integrated NIC, Video and Audio, for 5k.

tapos yung current hard disk mo, connect mo na lang as slave or primary (dalawa na DASD mo), tapos yung other peripherals mo, pwede mo ikabit dun.

di naman masyadong demanding ang usage mo eh. sayang lang kung bibili ka ng bagong board.
