is it possible, a seiko quartz would be more accurate than that PP?
as a horologic fan said, "at that price, telling the time is not the raison de etre."

    and yes,
maganda yung barong. plain at minimal burda.
    sino kaya gumawa, at magkano?

Yeah its really much ado about nothing.

But you can see ones level of being kakampink sa assessment nila value ng watch.

On business trip 2 weeks ago and nag try ako mag drop by on weekend sa mga mall to see some sports watch from rolex , they have display but wala din stock.

I went to a seiko store, im not into the hobby nor a watch enthusiast, price of seiko flagship model has gone up so much that some models cost an arm [di ko alam kung tama term ko] . . . Some are ranging from 300K to 400K in pesoses. I tried it on to get a feel of it, bracelet design is comfortable to wear just like the rolex.

Last seiko watch na nagkaroon ako is a lassale model, binigay ng mother ko back in 1985 pa yata pero nasira na din.

    dito na lang sa 'pinas,
i went to the rolex authorized dealer, with serious intent to purchase.
several times, in the space of a year.
palaging halos walang for sale. hindi ko type yung availables.
so i went to grand seiko, where i exchanged my money for one of their items.
    seiko's gain, rolex's loss.

Doc, Sabi ko nga sa sales I can pay in their preferred mode [ cash o kaskas ng card] if may available na model, sabi lang sa kin, i can register my interest and hand me their ipad to input my info with a grin hehe.

    yespo.
the internet is full of similar stories,
on the absence of rolexes for actual sale,
on rolex's real or imaginary screening criteria on whom to sell to and whom not to sell to, etc.
and the proliferation of the overpriced rolexes by non-ADs...

but i did fall in line for the black bay 58. i hope i receive a phone call soon...
    heh heh.

i remember a colleague, many years ago,
    they toured europe.
the bus made a stop beside an ordinary-looking bridge.
    the tour guide announced,
"folks, you can walk over and cross the bridge to switzerland. you may purchase your rolex watch there without fuss."

I don't think I'll be able to a buy a Rolex in my lifetime na because I only want to buy from AD. I'm not gonna buy ridiculous mark up from resellers. Is this a recent happening like in the past 5 yrs? It seems to be happening is most luxury items

BUT that means my Kuya's GF is so crazy for him, got him a Rolex kasi. Lol

As in lahat.

Its just a status symbol na wala ng functional purpose.

not everyone buys naman kasi status symbol, sakin it's something that I can pass on to the next generation at yung makikita ko where my money went. Mahilig kasi ako sa small spendings tapos di ko ma trace where my money went. Mom ko walang luho but she likes jewelry, each one has a story. My maternal lola has passed on pero the jewelry she gave will live on forever.

Malaki din factor kaya wala ako hilig kasi parents ko not into jewelries. Singsing lang suot nila. Ako personally mas gusto ko magsuot ng beads at pearls kasi meron natural energies yan.

It's also Rolex itself that is partly responsible for all the inventory control going on. They're basically following the playbook done by Marco Bizzarri for Gucci back in the 20-teens.

I wonder what's the threshold of people, when they decide na if Rolex doesn't want their money then they're going some place else and never go back hehe

Patience is running thin, for sure. I'm headed to Zurich this weekend and will have an opportunity to talk to a few horology nerds there.

I'm curious to hear how pissed people are at not being able to buy a Rolex just because of this artificial scarcity going on.

I watched several youtube videos on watches back when I wanted a moon swatch, that's where I saw a lot of pissed off comments about not being able to buy Rolex. I didn't know the unavailability was worldwide pala

If it was for a few months only, quite understandable. But when it's been years, you know they are milking it to make sure prices stay high. Demand drives price after all.

you might find something you like, there.

the black bay 58 looks nice. alas, naka-waitlist kami...
but the black bay 41 is on stock, awaiting buyer.

    forget the rolex,
unless one fancies buying it at creatively-inflated price from non-AD outlets.
    Actually doc
there is this Grand Seiko GMT that i like. hehe
Havn't had a chance to pass by the Grand Seiko shop recently thou.

Rolex kasi right now is considered good as cash, an asset that's easier to dispose than a car and it appreciates!
I am talking mostly about Stainless Steel sport models of Rolex thou the other models are also good but not as crazy as the sports model.

What brand of watch do you wear? [Merged]
