King, would you choose this one over the Planet Ocean?

Yes. The Planet Ocean is a little too chunky for me. I like the PO's bracelet better than the 5 link one on the SMP 300, though.

A vintage Rolex Oysterdate Precision handed down to me. A bit worn & dirty. Dial & hands are also tarnished. What should I do with it?

Since you got it for free, have the watched cleaned and serviced. A little cleaning and TLC will bring that to life.

If you don't want it, you can donate it to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of the PO. It's the thickness I have a bit of an issue with. If you can get it at a good price, pull the trigger.

Unless you have sentimental value attached to it, you can sell it as is to fund a newer model Rolex, whether brand new or pre-owned.

If you mind the weathered dial and hands, you can always ask Rolex service how much they will charge to replace them.

You could also visit Alex Bautista or Mang Andy to see if they can source parts. Given the age of the watch some other parts will probably need replacing too. And these guys will be cheaper.

To me the watch looks nice, elegant and a lot more understated than the sport models. I'd wear one.

If I am not mistaken, this is the well-loved and revered (and collectible) Rolex Precision 6694.

Have it serviced Sir. Avoid changing the dial, hands as the value will be much lower if those are replaced with new ones. Just have them cleaned.

If the scratches on the steel bracelet bother you, have it lightly polished, or replace with a leather band instead (it will look great on leather, I assure you). But avoid/minimize polishing the case as doing so will drop its value. As mentioned by others here, Collectors consider the old scratches as patina, and it gives the watch its character. [emoji4]

Thanks you. I plan to have it serviced soon & wii take up your suggestion of changing the bracelet. It will really look good as a dress watch with it’s smallish dial. I am thinking of that service center in the service town of the ATC. Are they any good? Credible reputation?

Some collectors like their rolex's with the old, waethered, "patina" look. They pay more as well.

    Yes bro tama si KN.

Tried it a few times kaso i am bothered how thick the watch is.

Good price would be around 5 to 6k usd pre-owned.

Not sure about the chrono and gmt models though.

If it's not thicker than the Victorinox Alpnach (below) or the Steiny Ocean One GMT, I will be good with it.

Im not sure how thick those models are. Pero the PO is around 16.5 based sa website nila but it wears bulkier than that courtesy of the squared case.

It's too thick for me considering i'm 180 cm and 180lbs. Hehe you get the picture.

The 2500 movement PO's are 14.5mm. No display caseback + thinner movement vs the 8xxx series. They should really find a way to reduce their current movements' thickness.

If I had to buy another again it would be the limited edition 2500 Liquidmetal. For me, the best PO.

Ah yes. forgot about the smaller PO. Thay's actually pretty decent too.

But the orange one Egan posted is 45mm, hence the 16.5mm thickness. Tama ba? [emoji28]

Nawala na appeal ng IWC Mark XVIII sakin.
Any suggestions on which watch to buy? Lol
