hmmm.... missed the good old days where our growing family make do with the old reliable german made beetle. really this folks vagen (people's car) are made to last. One of Hitler's useful contribution to mankind. one that doesn't need water to cool the engine and so gas efficient. back to the drawing board.. let us advocate long-lasting cars, specially at this time of rising oil prices and age of consumerism aka materialism.... great documentary...thank you ghosthunter! kudos, tis well-appreciated.

Owner type jeeps and passenger jeepneys have a long lasting, unchanging design. Local fabricators are not into planned obsolescence.

Owner type jeeps are not mass produced items. They are practically custom made vehicles.

For some items, that is the way is has been going. The cost of labor and parts tend to reach the purchase price of a new item so we end up buying a new items even if the old item only needs a minor repair/service to get back to 100% working order.

    An example is mobile phones.

Filipinos in Japan use to laugh when Japanese throw perfectly good stuff in the streets. Technological advancement ang bagong planned obsolencent.
