Tsikot.com desperately needs help at this moment

our current situation

Tsikot is currently using lots of server resources right now, we've been moving this from server to server for almost 7 times trying to make the site up all the time.

finally we transfered tsikot.com here on netph server but we're afraid that we cant handle it any longer. we dont want to sacrifice the website of our clients, in which payments from netph clients are being utilized to pay for the maintenance and hosting fees of tsikot.com

we're planning to buy a dedicated server from our USA based provider for tsikot.com, because in 1 or 2 months time, netph cant host tsikot.com any longer. it became bigger and bigger everyday with 50 to 70 average online members during peak hours...
which causes netph server to break down due to its high CPU resources usage.

Tsikot became part of our lives for almost a year... medyo marami ng napasaya at natulungan.We've been all supporting each other in every step of the way.

Right now we are seeking help from you guys, our beloved Tsikoteers.

We already found a solution.
To buy a Pentium 4 dedicated server (Dual xeon sana)with premium bandwidth and space dedicated only for tsikot. This will ensure us that tsikot willbe online always but the problem is, we cant handle the monthly cost for this this type of server usually cost $300/month plus one time setup fee of 150$ approx, we will be needing atleast 15k per month to maintain tsikot.com .

but the question is saan tayo kukuha ng ganito kalaking halaga?

ive thought of diff options

1. for member to pay premium membership fees to access the major forums and to be able to post ads personally , i dont like this option

2. i may sound too desperate but if you currently own a company/business, you can hire me in any type of job that will suit my skills . (just give me time to be online sometimes so that i can montor tsikot.com

To be honest to everyone, maintaining Tsikot.com and doing marketing stuff for netph is my full time job , i'm not earning that much, mas malaki pa cguro sweldo ng katulong, i can only manage to pay my internet and phone bills, some times cell card...yes thats true , Doc and I dont earn much from netph.com ,maybe if we have 1000 hosted clients, but we only few clients, and their payments, we use it to host and maintain tsikot and other sites.I havent applied for a regular job for almost 8 months coz i wanted to be online everytime to monitor tsikot and other forums that we owned. I just want to share this because this is the truth.

INQ7.net is charging 5$ per 1,000 ad views for untargetted ad campaign , dito sa tsikot bargain na talaga. so 200,000 ad views alone could cost $1000/month thats almost 50k per month what more for 500,000 adviews

B. not only that, premium banners across the forums, katulad nung malaking banner ng netph dito , it is viewed 20k to 30k times per month .... plus horizontal banners sa forums like this

C. the company logo can be linked to their company website and the banner pwede ilink sa customized forum para sa kanila, so that tsikot members can directly ask question regarding their services/products etc, and also for the company to post announcements and sell their products. , We will also give them the priviledge to post announcements and sell items related sa mga forums within tsikot. Plus one sticky thread/post sa forums

D. We will host their company website for FREE saving them thousands of pesos, if they dont have a website yet, we can make them a simple company website like what we did for DENSO when they sponsored Tsikot Grand EB www.denso.tsikot.com

E. We will be having FREE tsikot.com email service for everyone, their company logo/ad banner will be viewed from our webmail interface

Summary
200,000 to 500,000 ad views, bringing customer retention and branding for your company/business

Requirements , these two companies should sponsor tsikot atleast 1 year (6 months would be negotiable)

definitely not, we cant host tsikot.com locally , we cant even host this from local ISP, fot the main reason that bandwidth here in the philippine is very costly, it is almost 500 to 1000% higher than what US based server provider is offering.

jedi: I received your ad packages and I'm willing to place an AD but only for the forum sponsor. Mga 1-1.5K/month lang budget ng company ko for this. Personally I would'nt mind paying a monthly/yearly fee as member of DieselClub.org under Tsikot.com. Maybe if the sub groups like DieselClub contribute to the upkeep of the site then it will be more feasible. If we get organized then we can charge a small fee for a sticker maybe or other things then isama natin yung contribution for the site upkeep. IMHO lang po!

Just a suggestion..... tsikot caters to car enthusiasts regardless of car brands they own. Why not talk to different car clubs and convince them that tsikot will host their board/forums for a fee? Mas maganda kung iisa na lang ang pupuntahan ng mga car aficionados di ba? May mga pondo naman sila na pwede nilang gamitin plus kung makukuha nyo ang Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mazda and the Diesel org (for example) bale 6 ang magsi-share ng load on the site expenses which means kung may existing board/forum sila, hindi na sila magbabayd ng buo and will just pay a 6th of the price (besides, wala na silang iintindihin). Plus if what you're saying about the 200k to 500k hits per day is true, napakalaking exposure yan sa mga car clubs (recruitment purposes) not to mention the fact na hindi na tayo magiging divided. You could also ask the local car manufacturers themselves for support.

I asked around dito sa opis and got more or less the same price for the hosting (fraction of a T1 connection). Sayang nga at wala kaming client sa Pinas..... maganda sanang exposure sa amin kung maga-advertise kami wherein 200K to 500K ang hits na makukuha namen.

Another suggestion is to hold fundraising activities every month. Gawa kayo ng mga maibebentang bagay (site stickers and shirts seems to be a big hit) or invite a band to play (pwedeng mga members lang den ang mag-perform, hehehe).

You can also model your plans after the site Honda SUV. Nagsimula lang din sila from forums and then the hosting cost was solved by asking members to pay a fee. Ofcourse a lot got pissed and went on to find another informative site (reason why Honda CR-V was created). And then they figured on selling Honda parts to offset the hosting cost kaya libre na ulit yung site. The Honda CR-V site naman keeps its head afloat because they have some sponsors (tirerack, hondacuraworld, honda owner link and ofcourse it would help a lot if you have a lawyer owner) that are more than happy to pay for their advertisement.

we are already hosting diff clubs such as www.kotseaudioclub.com , www.protegetech.org, www.grupotoyota.com and www.clubmitsuph.com , but we cant charge them that much considering there are so many competitors out there.

fund raising is also a good idea, chieffy is already selling tsikot shirts and tsikot.com would be getting some royalties there.

the option to get membership fee to gain access tsikot is actually not in our list, and its true that it will drive people away.

what we are planning to do is to ask members to host their photo gallery within tsikot.com like www.ungas.tsikot.com instead of hosting them from PBASE

if we could get atleast 200 members to signup thats already 300,000/year , and that would be a great help to pay for the dedicated server fees and website maintenance, kotni na lang ang kulang.

But the best option is to get companies to sponsor tsikot by placing their ads.

i will activate all the acounts, yung payments kahit huwag muna ngayon, ill give you all free trials, announce ko nalang kung kailn na pwede magbayad.

I'm just curious. How much HDD space does the Forum consume (are we talking about MB's... or Gb's?) ? And do you really need the power of a P4 Dual Xeon server? As well as how much bandwidth do you need?

The thing is, right now, I have my own Linux Box on my home network that is already setup with Apache and MySql. I'm using an aDSL account (via Earthlink) with 1.5 Mbps Downlink / 128 kbps Uplink. Running on Redhat 9 and using a P3 (forgot the speed as of the moment) on a Compaq Proliant Server ML330. Total HDD space is about 34 Gb SCSI HDD (I could easily increase this if it's lacking, I have another IBM Netvista server that I can remove another HDD from). I'm behind a Linksys 802.11g WiFi/Lan Router with a built in Firewall with NAT. And as of now, I belive it has 384 Mb RAM.

I'm willing to help host it somehow. But I don't know if my DSL speed is adequate enough for the Forums requirements and I'm not sure if the Proliant server is up for the task either.

Another thing is, I'm using a Dynamic IP address. I tried asking my ISP if they can change it to a Static one but it's not available at the moment. I'm still seaching for a faster connection with better bandwidth at the moment as well as a static IP.

If this server is adequate enough... then all I probably need is to find a better ISP with more bandwidth and a static IP. And your problems are almost over. ;)
