My friend who works in Samsung and has several Samsung aircons in their house that has failed on them. She doesn't recommend Samsung aircons even to us friends, kahit mura because of employee discount. Super sirain daw talaga Samsung aircons and there's a reason why they're cheap.

Pang TV and phone lang daw talaga ang Samsung and I tend to agree. Dami rin bad feedback about Samsung microwaves. Yung Samsung ref namin at home though ok naman. Almost 10 years na rin.

I have a Samsung window type aircon for 13 years, a Samsung split type aircon for the kids room for maybe 8 years. Well luckily both are still working fine naman.

It's good when it works, it's a pain when it doesn't. Samsung doesn't invest in strong aftersales for their appliances. Like motherboard lang daw (which is typically what breaks in Samsung aircons) kailangan pa orderin since they don't keep inventory here.

Probably Samsung don't put much quality in their aircons sold outside Korea.
In our office we had a 10 year old Samsung floor standing aircon that my Korean boss imported directly from SK still works better than rhe Hitachi we have. And it's made in Korea not Thailand.

Kapag motherboard problem, be it AC, washmac, etc., who you gonna call? No not Samsung service center, call your friendly neighborhood tech. Chances are, it can be repaired at a minimal cost or if it needs replacement, there are plenty in the market and it's cheap. If you call Samsung, the replacement will cost you almost a new unit

Nung tumawag ako ng tech para gawain un carrier xpower, ang sabi sa kin, naku sir 15k mboard pa lang. Bili na lang kayo ng bagong unit kesa pagawa.
Tumawag ako sa carrier, 9k kasama kabit. Tapos ang problem.

bro, who does their after sales support? I'm eyeing one of their 1.5hp units but can't get info who does their after sales.

The discount offered is just too good to pass. It will just be for home use so I will not run it hard to the ground. Not to mention that we need at least 10 units. The price of the units is just part of it, we still have to consider the cost of installation.

May nagrerepair ng motherboard. The tech that installed the unit said to just give them a call. Even my relative who gave me a high price said all motherboards can be repaired.

Sirain ang samsung? My mom's old ref was a 18 cu. ft no frost samsung, bought in 2000, given away to my cousin in 2018 with nothing wrong with it, then my cousin sold it this year and it was still working as good as the day my mom bought it 20 years ago.

Just a thought - does having one appliance lasting many years make the brand "matibay" and conversely, having one appliance conk out prematurely make it not matibay?

It feels so anecdotal and there will always be bad eggs in any brand/model. Pag mataas failure rate as a percentage of a large sample size, yun lang yung talagang definitive na lemon talaga - like Ford's DCT. But even then, does not mean that all Fords are bad, because Mustangs are pretty well-built cars.

So typically I put more weight to people who deal with hundreds of appliances as opposed to paisa isa lang. Which is why I went for Daikin for my aircon - my contractor has installed countless Daikins for his clients with no issues so far. Si travs na contractor din, highly recommended. Then it's the second largest aircon manufacturer (next to Carrier, which has an advantage because they also sell a lot of window-types), so that counts for something too. And on the flipside naman, as mentioned previously, a friend who deals with appliances every day and even works for Samsung doesn't recommend it so I crossed it off my list even if it's relatively cheaper than Daikin or Panasonic. But even amomg these professionals who deal with lots of appliances may kanya kanya ding favorite - wala namang purely objective measure talaga of failure rates across models and brands across the world.

At the end of the day, to each his own of course - everyone has a different decision tree and criteria when buying appliances. [emoji846]

Im impressed your dmci unit has a provision for split type bro. I had to make butas sa wood cover ko kasi puro window type lang. Pangit tuloy tingnan so pinalagyan ko na lang ng panel. But still walang provision for the living room.
