Last week’s order from the White House seeks to ban people and property under US jurisdiction from being involved with “any transaction that is related to WeChat.” The administration says further clarification on what transactions are banned will come later. But for now, the vaguely worded order has left many people confused. Some say this an intentional effort to dissuade US companies from operating in China.

Some analysts say it’s possible that Apple might have to stop offering Tencent’s popular messaging app on its iOS App Store worldwide. If that happens, the impact on Apple could be huge. By one estimate, global iPhone shipments could fall by as much as 25 to 30 per cent this year, according to TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his Apple research.

Baffled WeChat users in China have been pondering what this means for them. When it comes down to it, though, it seems few will struggle to choose between iPhones and WeChat. In a Weibo poll asking people whether they would switch to a new smartphone or uninstall WeChat if the app disappears from iOS, more than 1.2 million out of 1.3 million people who voted indicated that they would get a new phone.

While a social media poll doesn’t represent all of China, the sentiment is real. It’s hard to overstate how essential WeChat is for Chinese smartphone users. More than just a messaging app, WeChat is also one of China’s two largest mobile payment apps, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the US$8.4 trillion in mobile payment transactions just in the last quarter of 2019.

Kuo also warns that other Apple products could be affected by a WeChat ban. If Apple removes the app globally, shipments of other popular products like AirPods, iPads, MacBooks and the Apple Watch could shrink by 15 to 25 per cent, he says. If the app is only removed from the US App Store, shipments of these products might fall less than 3 per cent.

Dunno if it will help but my sister said it is feasible to do online classes using her Oppo A5s, so low-end tablets may be feasible too. Maganda yung bagong matepad ng huawei, but its midrange, and its.. Huawei haha.

Samsung tabs are overpriced for me. Tapos yung ipads masyadong restrictive yung ecosystem for me.

That's the same price as an iPad 7th gen na 32GB na ah. Was also looking for tablets recently since my wife needs it for work. Got a 7th gen iPad 128GB for 19.5k.

Works very well for Zoom, Meet, plus viewing PDFs and the like. Pencil/handwriting capability a big plus too for taking notes or highlighting readings.

Then kinausap ko si wife na better may tablet kami pang Netflix - nakaka-inis kasi kung sa phone ka manood

(SG) naka-sale na si Tab 8 at S$198 pero si Tab 10 S$398 pa din (*34.5 = 13,791) - both are a year old na din kasi...

Then narinig ko yung katabi kong tumitingin... mas mura online.

Pag-check ko sa Lazada. S$300 lang incl shipping na, no warranty! (may S$295 kaso for pick-up)

Ah yeah super mas mura Samsung tablets in SG. I bought my dad a Samsung Tab 3 years ago na 40k dito pero 24k lang diyan.

If you need it now... the iPad is only at 18,990 (Apple PH K-12)

Current iPad is "fairly new" and you can expect at least 3-4 more years of updates.

There are a couple of full Windows tablets with optional keyboards online for under 10K, that's if you need full desktop apps, but for most users I guess iPad OS still has the most optimized apps for large screens unlike Androids.

Had a Lenovo miix 3 Win 8 tablet, was upgraded to Win 10 for free, terrible battery life and stuttery performance from the 2GB RAM + Intel Z3735F Atom, pero mapag tiyagaan na din.

Now that Apple has finally included mouse and keyboard support, iPads are really getting close to MacOS feel.

Alam ko 3 temp sensors ang mino-monitor, then duty cycle is adjusted as per charge levels. It should be safe. Most of these newer fast charging phones have better heatsinks(pipes) to spread the heat.
