    IPhone 4S is so yesterday...

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4s: What the Fans and Consumers Are Saying

By Bary Alyssa Johnson | First Posted: Aug 27, 2012 05:59 PM EDT

The Inquirer recently posted an article comparing the iPhone 4s to the Samsung Galaxy 3. The article looked at the following features: Design & Build, Performance, Operating System & Software, Camera, Connectivity and Battery & Storage.

In terms of which is the better phone, the article deemed the competition a tie. The author noted that while the Galaxy S3 might beat out the iPhone 4s in most categories, the author of the review maintains that "the iPhone 4s is simply much more of a pleasure to use from day to day."

Inquirer readers seem to disagree. Following are comments that were posted in response to the article:

    - "After using my new [Galaxy] S3 for only an hour, the iPhone seemed like ancient technology. Like a heavy brick of ancient technology."

    - "The screen size of the iPhone [4s] makes typos constant. And autocorrect is horrid. Siri is a mess and if there is any ambient sound it goes way off track."

    - "Without a doubt the [Galaxy] S3 is more powerful and looks sleeker than the iPhone 4s, also the wider screen means that it's great for watching movies and TV."

    - "Don't get me wrong - I do like the iPhone[4s] because it is a nice phone, but other than that when it comes to specs, processor, screen and everything else the [Galaxy] S3 is way better."

    - "iPhones are just iPod touches with an extra antenna basically. If you want a real phone get the Galaxy S3."

Obviously this particular fan base is pro-Galaxy S3. However, some readers are holding out for the iPhone 5 in the hopes that Apple will produce a superior cell phone sometime in September. Here's hoping:

    - "There is no comparison between these two phones. At least wait until the iPhone 5 comes out and then there might be something to compare."

    - "It is interesting to see how well the 4s holds up given the time it has been on the market. Let's see what the iPhone 5 brings and how that compares."

    - "Until the next generation iPhone 5 comes out, the iPhone 4s has nothing on the [Galaxy] S3."

In terms of consumer preferences, it's clear that currently the Galaxy S3 beats out the iPhone 4s nine times out of ten. Once the iPhone 5 comes out, however, things may turn around and it could be anybody's ball game.

What a bull**** court ruling. Apple can't claim ownership of a form factor that existed before the iPhone...

Good news for Apple. Especially since the iPad2 was banned in Korea...

Samsung already lost $12 billion worth of shares. I doubt if they will afford to fund that hype technology. ang dami future patents ng Apple, including the tangle-free headset and the transparent screen. Yes see through na ang iPhone 7 or 8.

and with the US courts on their side, goodbye Korean electronics

the US$1B penalty is a small price compared to the profits they made with the sale of the products involved in the case. and Samsung will continue to profit with the sale of S3.

Nobody is buying the IPhone 4S anymore. Everyone doesn't want a jurrasic looking, tiny screened phone and are waiting for the IPhone 5. Funny how Apple increased screen size according to this video purportedly of the IPhone 5. Instead of mantaining screen ratio, they increased the length and retained the width... Unlike the standard 16:9 on all Android devices. And to the apple fanbois, better get rid of your existing connecter devices, Apple decided to come out with a completely different port plug...

In this video we will show you the black and white glass panel, 8-pin dock connector flex cable assembly, and two other flex cables for the iPhone 5. Will Apple officially call the new iPhone the iPhone 5? Of course we don't know, nobody knows but Apple. Now with that said, for the sake of simplicity we are calling it the iPhone 5.

As you can see, the iPhone 5 front glass panel is slightly taller than the current iPhone 4/4S. However, it still remains the same width. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S III, the iPhone 5 will have a smaller display area in both width and height. We're not sure why Apple decided to only make it taller and not wider, but I'm sure Mr. Cook will explain it at the upcoming Apple Event. The other major component is the 8-pin dock connector. It does look like Apple has moved away from their traditional 30-pin dock connector to a new, and much smaller, 8-pin dock connector. It is still unknown if they will provide some type of adapter for those out there with 30-pin dock connector accessories. It will be very interesting to see how Apple handles this issue. It appears that Apple has also removed the liquid contact indicator from the dock connector. The indicator still remains in the headphone jack, so don't think you will get away with dropping your shiny new iPhone 5 in the toilet and trying to return it to the Apple Store because it "mysteriously" won't turn on. This change may have been done because there is no need for two indicators at the bottom of the iPhone 5. In the previous iPhone models, the headphone jack was at the top of the device and the dock connector was at the bottom, so it made since to have one in both. We haven't seen any signs of a liquid contact indicator for the top portion of the iPhone 5 yet. Well that is it for now, but stay tuned because we will continue to update you on parts as they become available.

Samsung didnt lose the shares/stocks. the market value went down. sa mga nag-stocks, tawag nila diyan is paper loss. if long term yung pag trade mo, ok lang yan. sa mga short term traders, big deal yung paper loss sa kanila.

and also, lahat nung mga kasama sa case na products ay phased out/outgoing products na. iba na flagship phone. s3 na. lalabas na Note2. Note10.1. lahat yan hindi kasama sa case. sabi nga ng mga bloggers, galaxy s3 was designed by lawyers.

Correction again, US$ 12 B Market Value...the stock is still there. It only looks big because it is magnified by the western media...
But no big deal either since it can go up as quickly since Samsung huge conglomorate that has a large product portfolio.
Compared to where the stock was this July....

I heard that the IPhone5 will be same ole same ole look...ZZZzzz.

Hay naku pls stop this financial terms na. apple proved Samsung is a copycat. The moral implication of such is that the world now knows that Samsung is no different from Chinese clone makers.

the question is will they ever buy a Samsung again even if you claim that the s3 is indeed super hi-tech.

The loss of stocks value is already 7.5% of Samsung entire net worth. and still Hindi pa nagsisimula ang banning ng Samsung products sa US customs and other European countries.

do the math my gosh. google already distanced themselves from Samsung, that means they too are afraid of the court ruling. If another US giant is afraid of that, then that means very powerful ang ruling.

yan ang hirap sa google, libre libre andriod tapos ngaun pati sila in danger na sa next case, coz madami din naaksampa infringement ang apple sa android, eh Nayare na nga ang hardware eh.

I'm doing you all andriod users a favor by giving you a heads up in things to come Dahil na sa akin analytic skills, tpos gagalit pa kayo. if I were you, I'll sell my samsung unit bago pa malaman ng mundo and the news and it's implications absorbed.

OT: why is it that OB sounds slightly gay to me in this post? not because of what he said, which is funny, btw. but in how s/he wrote/delivered the message.

And, if you look at the Korean court case, neither is Apple. As they were found guilty of copying several key Samsung features, as well.

Then again, Apple is made in China.

The move from Apple hints at their desperation to maintain their top spot. This isn't the end of the case, Samsung can appeal, and they probably will.

Apple is only trying to get these eight models banned in the US

    • Galaxy S 4G
    • Galaxy S2 (AT&T)
    • Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket)
    • Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
    • Galaxy S2 Epic 4G
    • Galaxy S Showcase
    • Droid Charge
    • Galaxy Prevail

the S2 is still selling quite well but with the newer S3 already in the market that shouldn't matter too much in the long run. Apple really has nothing on the core google stuff so on the whole Android is safe. couldn't say the same for Apple though. They are the same copy-cats that Samsung is. With Motorola mobile now under google they are seeking to ban the iPhone, iPad, and Macs in the US.

This isn't a simple case as Apple vs Samsung too where only aesthetics were involved.

source: Google Has Had Enough: Files Lawsuit To Ban Multiple Apple Products - AndroidPIT
I knew this day would come. I can’t say that I hoped for it, but in all honesty, it was inevitable. Apple has been very busy lately in doing all it can to ban as many Android devices as it can, and HTC, Samsung, and Motorola have all recently got a small taste of the Apple juice lately. But something has changed: Google now owns Motorola, and aren’t wasting any time in defending their new acquisition, as they are now seeking a sales ban on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers in the US. This time, it’s personal, and contains a twist that could make this particular lawsuit a very dangerous one for Apple.

This is the first case that Google has signed off on in defending their new hardware company, meaning that there’s no more lurking in the background providing support. This is full on Google with their law team directly involved. Thsi isn't Google watching from the sidelines, but instead, they are calling this one play by play. But Google and Motorola were clever, as this isn't a lawsuit that focuses on silly topics such as icons or square shaped tablets.

Google and Motorola are filing patent infringement for non-standard essential patents. To put it simply, Google-rola has filed a case for a patent/patents that courts cannot legally force companies to patent, meaning that if they win this case, Apple could be forced to completely stop using the technology in their devices.
We don’t have confirmation on exactly which Wifi related patent is in question here, but we do know that Motorola attempted to reach licensing agreements with Apple (since 2010), which Apple apparently refused. Motorola stated that:

“We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple’s unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers’ innovations”.
This is a big one for Google and for Apple. This isn’t just an OEM that Apple is dealing with now. This is one of the most powerful (if not THE most powerful) movers and shakers in the world. If this comes to trial, Apple will have its hands full, and might even be forced to rely on Microsoft for backup.
much more interesting case compared to the silly Apple vs Samsung drama.
