February 15th, 2007 03:00 PM #1My watch is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date-just. Just got it from a friend last weekend.
How much do you usually pay for the service(maintenance)? What do they do to your watch? Would the watch look brand new after the service? If I want to replace the Sapphire Crystal(with a deep scratch), any idea how much?

It is scratch resistant but there's one material that can scratch it easily. The hardest material known to man - Diamond.

beatles, i had my 12 year old rolex serviced two years ago at the official rolex service center at corinthian place, back of greenbelt. they cleaned and calibrated the watch, also changed the gaskets and sapphire crystal, since it had a chip. the total cost was 14,000.00 as far as i remember. they charged 5,000.00 for the sapphire crystal. took them a week to service the watch. hope this helps.

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
