post 1986 watch are not scratch resistant. they are not made of glass either but plastic.

Here's what my Rolex Datejust manual says (on Page 4):
The Rolex Datejust model is the front-runner of the Rolex Oyster Collection...All are fitted with a crystal crafted from a solid block of synthetic sapphire that is virtually scratchproof.
Mine was purchased 2006. I use it everyday, not a single scratch so far.

February 16th, 2007 10:18 PM #15nitrox, baka maalaga ka lng sa watch mo. scratchproof doesn't mean that it can't be scratched. parang bulletproof din yan, it can withstand bullet but just to a certain point.

I have a 16233. Service in Rolex is from 8-18t depending on what needs to be done but this should include calibration, change gaskets if needed and general cleaning.

Actually hindi rin ako maalaga e :D Ive got a 2 yr-old Omega that I used to wear daily but now its kindda battered/bruised with scratches on the bracelet and bezel. Pati yung watch case me mga tama na. I agree, probably watches have varying tolerance for scratches, I guess Rolex-es can withstand them more.

ang gold bracelet ba ng rolex gold talaga or gold plated lang? meron kasi akong rolex na gift ng grandma ni wifey na binenta ko sa dad ko. medyo may isang part ng gold bracelet na kumupas. hindi kaya fake ito?
