I think it's only the compressor that's covered by the 10-year warranty.

Panasonic repair guys came in today. They said the problem with our ref was it was not defrosting that is why the cold won't go up (bottom freezer) They said the fan and sensor are not working but after they replaced this small wire that got short, the fan started working again. They told me to observe because they are not sure if the fan is defective already.

They charged P1500 for labor and cleaning. I asked them in case the fan and sensor are busted nga, the parts will cost more or less P6000. I suppose I will pay labor again so that is a total of P7500! Add pa what we paid for today so that's P9000

It was already cold when they left this afternoon but when I checked this evening it was not cold na naman I am very very disappointed that this ref is only 9 yrs old. The technician said though that this is sulit already but our National ref is almost 30 yrs old and never had any problems

I am contemplating on replacing it but most of the refs now are so big! The height won't fit the area where we place our ref and I don't want to have to baklas a cabinet for that. I feel like crying because this is the first time since the pandemic that I let people inside our home (no choice because the ref is in the kitchen) I risked getting covid to have this ref repaired! I had to soap the kitchen floor when they left, I was so tired! Now I have to do it again if they need to repair

I think I will get an LG this time. Samsung is cheaper but I read here that it has bad reviews? I am thinking nga since refs now are disposable then I will just get a regular 2 door ref (no more bottom!) My minimum is 14.5 cu ft. I was thinking of getting a 24 cu ft side by side pero yun height nga ang problem at sayang ang P60k kung masira in 10 yrs

Now I don't know if I should repair or replace, laking difference naman ng 9k sa 35k hehe

    give it one more try.
invite the panasonic folks again, and see what's wrong, this time.
if the cost of repair again is prohibitive, then buy a new one.

when we replaced our old ref with the so-called new gen, we had to cut away the wooden shelf above it, so's the new model would fit.
instead of putting things on that shelf, we now put things on the ref itself.
the arrangement may not win a beauty contest, but it works fine.

Think of it as 6500 or 35000 since the 1500 you paid to repair is a sunk cost

Repair is probably a better option

I don't expect fridges today will last 10 years. Not like GE fridges nuon, na aabot ng 20yrs na walang nasira.

Our 6 year old LG side by side had evaporator leak last week.
Gusto ng 1 LG accredited company to replace it for 15k.
Had it repaired via welding and reprocessing for 6k.
Mukhang mahinang klase na talaga parts ng appliances

Why not look at Condura or Kelvinator refs.

okay doc, I won't buy na muna. Lumamig ulit. Not sure if the smoke or fog inside is because it was too cold? Weird kasi ngayon nagpapawis na naman so hindi stable ang temperature

You're right. Better than spending 35k

I really hate that they don't build appliances to last anymore. We have a national ref that is almost 30 yrs old and still working. It is even colder than the Panasonic Inverter nga

I was planning on buying an LG side by side (24 cu ft) kasi hindi naman malayo price sa tinitignan ko na 15 cu ft. The problem is the height does not fit the area so we would have to baklas a cabinet for it to fit BUT BUT BUT since tsikoteers are saying nga na 10 +/- na lang lifespan ng ref, I will scrap the idea of a side by side kasi that's P48k din. I would rather buy a smaller 9 cu ft ref at least hindi sabay masisira hehehe
