Pwede bang gamitin for individual use?
Sayang. Di pala pwede sa PDA and Smartphones. Mas handy kasi ito kesa laptops. Sana may CF slot o converter na pwedeng magkabit ng PCMCIA card. Hoping...Originally Posted by benderbot

As of now the WeRoam service is for laptop and desktop only. WeRoam Mobile is for the laptop, and the WeRoam Direct is for the Desktop.
But PLDT is working this service to be available in PDA or Mobile also, we’ll inform you about this as soon as the service is available.

hindi ba pwedeng ang we roam mobile if aalis isasaksak sa laptop and if nasa bahay isasaksak sa desktop?
pissword -- puede mong ilipat ang we roam lan card
we already tried it on three different laptops, one after the other.
just make sure that each of the laptops or desktop computers has the aircard 700 series watcher
Ha! Just got my air card the other day. Too bad, I always have gprs connection that means 33-40kbps at max. Tried driving around with laptop on, sa may Otis merong edge connection but internet speed was sooo slow, probably because the vehicle was in motion.
Traversed upto Dian St. in Makati, where edge was available, ok naman ang speed almost doubled sa gprs reaching 70-80kbps at times but not all the time. Kelangan pa kasi install yung dialer ng WeRoam via CD drive, Air Card Watcher as 111prez posted. Pero sa tingin ko pwede ito configure kung may sariling dialer yung PDA.
mr ungas, where can we get info on all areas that EDGE is avail? do i need to sign in pa ba if i only hav a wifi capable laptop? assuming i did not get pldt's weRoam.Originally Posted by Ungas

WiFi hotspot connection is another internet connection service. They just bundled WeRoam with WiFi hotspot service for additional P500/month on top of WeRoam's P2000 MSF.Originally Posted by jad
Your wifi capable laptop will not be able to connect to WeRoam service without Sierra AirCard that has its own PC card/sim to connect to Smart network's GPRS/EDGE signal. With regards to EDGE coverage, I think silver_corolla should know more where their service is available.
Sir knight23,
Afaik, there is only one plan for mobile with internet connection which is 2,000 MSF. The other option is 1,500 MSF, but it is limited to VPN (your own Virtual Private Network) access only with no internet connections. For more info, visit http://www.pldtweroam.com/
Si sir silver_corolla works for Smart so he should know where the GPRS/EDGE network their company offers. But the WeRoam service is introduced and maintained by PLDT networks, which only uses Smart's GSM/GPRS/EDGE signal for its service.

Ng: Internet access with WeRoam
(Sunstar Cebu 8/18/05, Wilson Ng, Wired Desktop)
For the last few days, I have been traveling around accessing my email and Internet through WeRoam. The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) WeRoam is not new, but there is a renewed push by the firm, packaging it with free Airborne Access Wifi and a Thinkpad notebook.
The WeRoam service actually uses a technology which is called Edge (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution). It is a 3G GSM technology that delivers broadband-like data speeds to mobile devices. It allows consumers to connect to the Internet and send and receive data, including digital images, web pages and photographs, three times faster than an ordinary GSM/GPRS network. Edge enables GSM operators to offer higher-speed mobile-data access, serve more mobile-data customers, and ease up GSM network capacity to accommodate additional voice traffic.
PLDT is offering this wireless broadband service at the speed of up to 170 kbps for mobile access. There is also a stationary access capability for desktops, which can reach up to one mbps. This is suitable for households that cannot be reached by DSL or telephone lines, but have cell phone signals.
Most countries with GSM facilities offer Edge, but I think what will make the WeRoam fly is actually its unlimited use for a fixed monthly fee. It is not only faster than GPRS, it also means you don’t have to pay per kilobyte, unlike GPRS which can become expensive if your email or surfing requirements are big. If you are mobile, it is cost-effective compared to DSL—at a reasonable speed. It also provides Airborne Access (which has over 180 sites now) if you go to one of their sites for free.
Cagnaan Bookstore, which is my favorite bookstore for computer and management books, recently opened a bigger branch in Banilad Town Center.
The branch is more spacious and has a wider selection. If you are interested, here are popular topics and their readership: Wiley, 30 percent; Microsoft Office, 25; Pearson, 22; Windows XP, 17; Microsoft Press, 19; Photoshop/Photography, 16; O’Reilly, 16; Mac, 13; Penguin, six; and Web Development, seven percent.
I noted an increase of 2.8 million domain names registered last month. It seems that the Internet dotcom has recovered.
People are starting to pay big money again for selected .com names. Last month, property.com and website.com were both sold for $750,000 each. Last March, a site called local.com was sold for $700,000.

with the IBM thinkpad package, inclusive na ang wifi, if you apply for an aircard only, that's another 500/month
for weroam users, enough na ba ang celeron with 512 ram or a MUST ang centrino model? Usage will be entirely for web surfing.
