Plasma or LCD

Guys I'm planning to buy a new TV. Which one to go? Advantages and disadvantages of both as far as durability, quality of picture and etc... Thanks

lcds are more expensive per inch and has weird colors from different angles. ok, lang ang lcds as a pc monitor. unless you plan to watch your movies from 2 feet, plasma all the way. 50 inches atleast

Lcds are notorious for "ghosting" as well. meaning, mabagal and refresh rate nya kaya nakakahilo and you will see traces of movements na wala naman dapat.

tagal na plasma ko and walang problema. also, you can safely play video games with it and won't burn naman.

Good question. I have a Panasonic 42" LCD HDTV in half a price of a branded same size Plasma. And the quality, people are like " pare ganda ng plasma mo ah" and Im like' pare LCD lang yan...you know what i mean...GO for LCD BRO and spend your spare change maybe on good speaker and amplifier......

LCD has problems called flashes, where the screen tries to compensate for sudden brightness and turns dark. Dark scenes are also real killer of LCD, especially the RPTV kind (rear-projection). Plasma prices are on the way down, you can already buy a 42" plasma (Panasonic) for the price of a 32" LCD (Hitachi).

IMO crt pa rin the best, although lugi sa size but it is unbeatable in picture quality n durability, it will last a lifetime.

60,000 hours nama yata yung sa iba...sa mahal ng plasma at dahil sa lifespan nito kaya mas praktikal yata mag LCD...

CRT still has the best picture quality, but the size is a bit of a problem, especially if you don't have space to spare. Contrary to popular belief, plasma screens have roughly the same usable life spans as CRT screens, which is roughly 30,000 hours (but Sony claims that their new plasma screens are double that). Plasma relies essentially on gases to produce image, and as these gases leak out, picture quality is lost, so it is important to keep the contrast and brightness at reasonable levels, because always keeping them at max accelerates the depletion of gases. As for LCD, two things to watch out for are delay and pixel failure. The inherent delay of LCD screens which translates to artifacting when an object moves across the screen becomes more of a problem as the screen becomes larger. As for pixel failure, these screens will most definitely have dead pixels even if brandnew, and will continue to have them in increasing numbers. I'd much rather get a projection TV than an LCD, seriously.

For me, LCD. A friend told me na may maintenance kasi ang Plasma. And I think, LCD consumes less power.

Guys, ano and DLP? read it in magazines pero I don't get how different it is from lcd or plasma?

DLP, or rear projection TVs, uses bulbs to project images unto a reflective surface.

Well, for computer Displays, since our company imports and sells LCD screen, sabi Boss ko up to 2 dead pixels is okay lang daw. Pero pag lumagpas, too much na raw. Compaq for example, may lumalabas din na 1 to 2 dead pixels.

I heard also from some of our clients na pag Class A na LCD, dapat daw walang dead pixel. Probably true, pero, bihira akong makaencounter ng walang dead pixel. Baka sa amin lang.

For a TV, imho, di naman ciguro halata ito since we normally watch TV at a distance comfortable enough, especially for big screens.

If you're not planning to use it everyday (pang movies lang), why not use an LCD projector? Less space pa kailangan. Just setup a clean, white wall. Around 70k lang, ok na. Portable pa for business presentations.

ok sana sir ang LCD projector, pero every 2000-2500 hours nagpapalit ka ng lamp. and lamps costs around 12k to 20k. I discovered this after buying the projector. d ko alam, naaliw kasi ako dun sa home theatre na naka-setup sa epson cyberzone
