If you plan to use your desktop as a "digital hub" at home then choose Media Center... If you are using it for business, mission critical apps, and you will connect to a domain/server-client set-up use XP Pro...

choice nyo na lang yan sir.... pwede XP Pro or Media Center... pero if an XBOX 360 is on the horizon of your purchase decisions... install Media Center para they communicate right away....

If I remember correctly, you need to have a tv tuner that's supported by MS Media Center and the remote.

Here's the link from the MS home page:

That depends. How much of XP Pro's unique features do you actually use at home? I can't remember much of XP Pro's unique functions besides Backup and support for 2 cpus.

You lose the domain-related stuff but gain built-in TiVo functions/dvd-burning since MCE is geared towards media stuff.

Yeah you lose business networking functions... For me having a Media Center OS is a downgrade on the point of price of OEM (8,000 for Pro, 7,000 for Media Center)...

Home networking & regular peer to peer networks sa computer shops use workgroups... Business networking more on Client-Server.. kelangan ng Domain...

hmmm...pag ginagamit mo ang computer mo for editing, photo work and other media related work, will MCE be better than XP Pro in terms of speed and stability?

MCE should be based off XP Pro without the domain functions. I don't have it here. So, I'm wondering if someone knows if it has the Backup application found in XP Pro?

As for stability, I see no difference between XP Home, Pro, or MCE. They're all fine to me.

I'd say, yeah. I would've bought MCE instead of XP Home or Pro if it was available back in 2001.

Previous versions of Windows XP MCE were based off XP Pro. Logic says v.2005 should be too. But, it's hard to find if features of XP Pro such as dual physical cpu support and that Backup app also made it to MCE 2005.

The only definite conclusion is that MCE 2005 is much more than XP Home.
