any nikon or casio digicam owners here?

compared to canon kasi, these brands are much cheaper; and while canon is king of the hill, i'm curious as to the performance of these brands -- specifically sa image quality and durability.

i'm planning to get a 4-5mpixel unit btw

    www.dpreview.com might help.

    I'm a Canon user. Low-end lang. Sorry.

I have a Casio Exilim. Ok naman sya. As long as may Memory Card para di mo tipirin sa quality (of course, file size), ok na rin ang output.

Depende naman ang camera sa output na gusto mo eh. Kung ano talaga ang usage nya. If general use lang, ok na yung mga mura and not really the high-end products

i have the z750. I like it very much. Many people comapre it to the ixus series of cannon. I like it because it's easy to use. It has a nice clear creen with a lot of automatic picture settings and it feels sturdy. I read several reviews before purchasing my compact digicam and this came out pretty good in most reviews. For 19.5k, it's a 7.2 megapixel that you can carry anywhere; it's user friendly and it has manual settings, which the ixus series doesn't have.

performance wise from the consumer models should not be that far from one another regardless of whether its a canon, nikon, minolta, sony and so on. some models from different brands even share the same supplier for their sensors.

i'm guessing it's the same regarding durability.

been using cf cards since having point and shoot digicams. stuck with canon cuz at the that time, they were still reluctant to shift to other card formats, and i did not want to give up my cf cards. (some small canon cameras use sd/mmc)

i have an old canon dslr when i want to be creative, and a small sony u20 to bring with me during parties.

'Got two Nikon Coolpix and I recently used the Canon Powershot A620 from the office. Liked the performance of both.

My suggestion is to get a camera that would suit your style and needs (current and future) i.e. if your just a casual photographer who likes to get nice and quick shots, then you won't go wrong with a good point-and-shoot camera. However, if you're a budding hobbyist, you might want to go for an entry-level DSLR.

Also, the important factor that often makes or breaks a great photograph is not the camera itself - it's the person behind the camera. ;)

If you want, check out Kameraderie (sister community of Tsikot). You can ask the members there your photography questions. I'm sure they'll provide you with more than satisfactory answers.

    Cheers.

pipho member here... canon user ever since. i like the consumer cams of canon coz it renders colors magnificently. yun yung point of view ko since di pa ko nakagamit ng nikon. kahit ano piliin mo, magaling lahat yan except dun sa mga less than 10k ang price.

price wise, it is a bit cheaper compared to others with the same spec.

picture quality and that bad at all.

I agree... The Casio Exilim is damn good for the money. It's comparable to point-and-shoot minis from Canon and Nikon that cost much more. If you're a total camera newbie or non-camera person, it's not a bad choice.

As for Digital SLRs... we have both a Nikon and a Canon... prefer the Nikon (it's a D70 prosumer kit), but then, that's just personal... there's both great Canons and great Nikons... if you have enough money.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Oldie Nikon Coolpix 995. Sweet digicam still. I still prefer it over my wife's 5mp Kodak Easyshare C340. It's just a bit on the bulky side.
