i just bought a NextBase 785 DVD --- the more popular among generic brand of DVDs. Gusto ko sana magset-up ng decent home theater on a low budget.

    Question:

what generic brand would you suggest to buy for an amplifier, speakers, subwoofer?
    how much do they cost?
    where to buy these stuffs?

i just saw a NextBase HTIB complete set composed of NB DVD (dont know the model), 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers, center speaker, and subwoofer amounting to P12K...kaso may DVD na ko. May nabibili ba separate NB speakers? Ayaw kasi ibenta ng di kasama yung DVD.

I tried to check with pinoydvd.com kaso dami na thread and a lot of catching to do. Tsikoteers who shared with the same interest...help!!

    Maikikisali na ako dito...

I just bought an LG HDTV 44" Projection TV na may libreng DVD Player. Plano ko rin mag set-up ng HT kaso hindi ko alam kung anu-ano ang kailangan ko at paano ko pagko-konektahin lahat ng speakers para mabuo yung HT. Meron bang pwede magturo sa akin dito?

Also, may nakita ako na surplus na HT speakers daw. May sub sya na parang CPU ng PC plus around 5 small speakers. The package is worth 4K lang, Hitachi yata tatak.

    Thanks in advance!

    God bless!!!

Budget HT ba ang gusto ninyo....base on my limited knowledge this is what I would do.

    1) Check if 5.1 nga ang model ninyo...meaning, does it have an RCA jack for 6 speakers (Left front, Right front, left rear, right rear, center and subwoofer)?

    2) If yes, then you can try testing them out muna. If not then, you'll have to buy an amplifier system na 5.1 ready.

    3) To test, I suggest getting these test vcd/dvd/cd's for 5.1 systems....it plays audio to all the speakers so machecheck mo if it works.

I PLAN to use an amplified speaker set from my computer. To match the stereo plug...I made an stereo jack na RCA ang kabilang plug so it would fit the RCA jack ng nextbase dvd ko. Since, iisang pair lang ang amplified speaker ko, i use it on a pair of plug at a time. front muna, then rear, the center and sub combination.

I haven't done this step 3....kasi di ko pa napupuntahan yung friend ko na may test cd for 5.1 system.

    Now, if this works,

    4) I'd buy an affordable amplifier system. I have a pair of 50 Watts rating na 12 inch speakers (8 ohms) which I plan to match to a 75-100 watts stereo amplifier...I'll probably use this for the subwoofer. Then I'll get 6 cheap (Alexan) 25 watt stereo amplifiers (for 8 ohm speakers) and match it to small 6 or 8 inch speakers (if my calculations are right, I'll need 2 speakers for each amplifier so that would be 12 speakers)...each amplifier would be allocated to each of the channels...the wattage of the speaker would be around 15-20 watts (8 ohms din) lang (rule daw ay half of the amplifier power rating).

then I'll be making my speaker boxes din. estimated cost less than P5K except speaker box.

Of course, don't expect too much
from that dahil mura lang. Not as good as the pricey ones
but not bad either. Puede na for an entry level generic set-up.

    OIC,
as for the cost of our set ups, frankly i don't care whether you HTIBs or have home-made, locally-made HT systems , or maybe even obscenely priced set-ups. what is important is that you are satisfied with the sound, mas ok pa nga kung dirt cheap ang setup mo pero mag kasing tunog ng mga mamahalin eh,

there are so many ways to achieve entry level setup,
1.buy a DVD player with built in decoders, then buy a generic 5.1 amp (SAKURA, MEQUE, etc) ang dami nito sa RAON
then DTX floorstander speakers (3.8K) and 14 gauge audiopro
    speaker wires, diyan palang

, as i've said wala naman sa sing mahal ang setup eh, basta
we share the same appreciation for good audio and video

depende rin pala sa budget, room size and preference

and may i add the daichi is an OEM manufacturer, sila din ang gumagawa ng DTX, US audio, Acoustic Research (mga export quality)and the sub contract on JBL, Cerwin Vega and many more baka magulat kayo mga high end sila rin ang may gawa.

best ofcourse gawang pinoy ang dai-ichi, tangkilikin ang sariling atin!!!

nextbase dvd & generic receiver, speakers, etc.
