The 43" Skyworth TV that my senior parents are using recently died. A replacement (used) logic board costs 3-4k but there's no saying how long it or the other parts will last so we're probably scrapping this.

Suffice to say, I'm looking for a brand new TV. The size should be 42-43" as it needs to fit the existing space. 'Smart' vs 'Dumb' is not a deal breaker as I plan to reuse the existing Roku 3.

I'd be happy with a basic but reputable and reliable TV, even without the bells and whistles. In fact, FHD (1080p) is fine.

What's your budget? I would recommend a TCL or HiSense but if your budget is much lower, there are other brands out there. The key thing is looking for something which you can easily find parts online.

Btw, a replacement board for your old TV should be cheaper on Shopee, I think.

The logic board appears to be out-of-stock now (Shopee and Lazada), but back when they were still available, it was in the ballpark figure I stated.

That's unfortunate. The advantage with getting a tv like a TCL is that parts are readily available online. The case is the same with the likes of LG or Samsung but you're really not getting your money's worth paying for a 43" LED TV with these brands, since the TCL typically will have a better panel at the same price. Also, the Samsung TV warranty in the Philippines is only for one measly year, so a definite no for this TV.

    ^Thanks!

I'm checking out the TCL 43S5K. What can I expect from TCL + Google TV in the long term? Will the apps continue to work in 5-10 years, assuming the hardware survives that long? Though, I understand that I can still use an STB like a Roku via HDMI as a workaround, if needed.

May TCL 50" and 55" kami ok naman. Since 2020 pa daily use. Yung 55" may Onkyo soundbar and subwoofer built-in. Problematic ang startup prone to crashes when we first got it. After a firmware update ok na sya. Processor is not that fast pero for our usage ok na sya.

Also Devant, sa office namin pinapa warranty namin sa supplier, hindi pa umabot ng 6 mos.
Stick lang talaga dun sa mga magandang feedback na model.

Samsung ko na 43", since 2015 pa OK pa naman.
Although may white spots na yung backlight.
Ginamit nalang namin as TV sa dining area, while Sony TV yung pinalit namin.
Sony 55" at 35k bili namin last 22".
Reason why I went to Sony is because of the Google TV ecosystem.
Daming apps na pwd ma install.

Sa samsung kasi, kung ano lang mga apps na approve dun sa TV mo, yan lang mainstall mo sa TV.
Newer streaming apps, hindi mo na yan ma download sa Samsung TV after 1 yr.

We have a 4K 65" TCL from 2018 that still runs Netflix, YouTube, etc, fine. It isn't the fastest interface but I'm happy all the apps still run ok. The logic board was replaced under warranty. It also still gets updates and was recently updated to Google TV from Android TV.

And because of the above, I had one installed in one of our offices and it plays non-stop from 8am to 7pm. No issues too and it's been chugging on for 6 years.

For closure to this thread, I went with the TCL 50V6B... https://www.tcl.com/eu/en/tvs/v6b

The Google TV UI is snappy and also affords it a bit of future-proofing. I'll still keep the Roku 3 for backup.

I originally thought that 50" won't fit but it ended up just right.

    Thanks, y'all!

Thanks bro. I'm actually looking to replace our 6-yr Sony TV. Showing signs of LCD going gone.
