Fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury, which emits UV radiation when it is electrically excited. This UV radiation then interacts with the chemicals on the inside of the bulb to generate light. Tube fluorescent bulbs have diffusers that filter the UV radiation. The new compact fluorescent light bulbs do not have these diffusers and hence people using CFL are exposed to UV radiation. UV radiation has been linked to skin cancer and various skin disorders. Those who have skin problems may be particularly sensitive to this radiation.

Gusto ko yung led kaso ang konti ng mapagpipilian. Matipid din kasi 1.7watts tapos 35,000 hours. May alam ba kayo saan maganda bumili led lights?

So balik muna ako sa tube fluorescent sa sala at incandescent sa comfort room. Parang may mali sa talaga sa ilaw ng cfl.

Tayo sa philippines gaya-gaya sa america at iba pa western countries. First daw tayo in asia na i-ban cfl. Pang guiness book at ripleys talaga tayo.

In February 2008, president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo called for a ban of incandescent light bulbs by 2010 in favor of more energy-efficient fluorescent globes to help cut greenhouse gas emissions and household costs during her closing remarks at the Philippine Energy Summit. Once put in effect, the country will be the first in Asia to ban incandescent bulbs.
