When you say performance, what exactly do you mean? Gaming? Video Editing? Running MS Word super-duper fast?

If you could mention a couple things you plan on doing, I could help you choose components. BTW, do you plan on assembling it yourself?

    Pentium D malakas sa kuryente...

I'll go with the Hyperthreading Pentium 4 3.2Ghz and an X300 based board and at least 1Gb of RAM to satisfy his needs while studying & playing games without overshooting the budget too much... Price nito di lalagpas ng 20k

CPU: any Intel Core 2 Duo
    MOBO: Intel 965 chipset based.
    Memory: DDR2 800 or above

Depending on the budget, but more or less the three components listed above will cost you almost Php 30,000. If you add monitor, hard drive, mid to high end video card, etc.. siguradong lalampas pa yan ng Php 80,000 (again will vary depending on the kind items chosen).

The entry level Core 2 Duo should already be very fast. It's much faster than my X2 4200+ and I don't feel the (almost 2-yr old) X2 laboring yet.

1GB ram is fine if you want XP. Vista, better go to 2GB.

Video...... If you game a lot, the faster gaming card, the better. The 7900GT mentioned earlier should be fine. If you game at low res (1152x864/1024x768) like I do, an even slower video card should be sufficient. But, best stick with the 7900GT.

If you want to crunch numbers or do video-editing, the free built-in GMA 950 should be sufficient.

Wait until the Core 2 E4400 comes out, because there will be an across-the-board Intel price drop. Then get the E4300.

Or you can go AMD. The A64 X2 3500+(?) is extremely cheap and is MUCH better than any of the Pentium D's.

That's if you want to go cheap though.

Meron na bang Core 2 Quad (yung Intel Quad Core for desktop use) dito sa Pinas (official release)?

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyways, when comparing Core 2 against P4:

Common responses say that a 1.86-2.13 Ghz na Core 2 Duo (E6300-E6400) is more powerful daw than a 4.0 Ghz Pentium 4.

Pero if you want something light on the wallet (yet faster than P4/Penitum D), hintayin mo na lang yung E4400 na Core 2 Duo (codenamed: ALLENDALE) na lalabas next month.

If you want a dual-core for the longer term (although mas mahal siyempre), get the E6600 (2.4 Ghz).

If you want Intel Quad Core, siguro you can wait 6 around months tapos diyan magkakaroon ng USD$400 price drop (around 20k pesos) for the Q6600 model (kasi may dadating na new model).

Pero if you want something good, hintayin mo na lang yun E4400 na Core 2 Duo which has 2.0 Ghz (codnamed: ALLENDALE). Smokes any P4 Extreme Edition + Hyper Threading or any Pentium D that attempts to block its path.

Blackraven: yes, meron nang Quad Core dito sir.

Bankai: if you're gonna setup a good PC, NEVER ever use generic PSUs. stick to good ones like HEC 550AB. It's cheap, only 3k+ but gets the job done. 3yrs warranty too.

If you want a good and fair deal (someone who won't screw you) contact PC Klinik: 0920.914.8598 / 743.4510 / 741.2317

wala akong commission jan ha. close friend ko owner nyan, si Uncle Bob. just tell him you were referred by his fellow maroon, Philipp.

Funny that cheap 500watts Power Supplies are only 1,000 pesos for 1 year warranty... So there is no real benefit for the branded PSU that go for 3,000+ with 3-year warranty...

I would rather get a "branded" casing like FoxConn which has their own PSU unit...
