Haven't had luck w/ Sony lately. The last 2 were short-lived. Not buying the premium hype anymore....Found TCL pretty well packaged...bang4buck.[emoji106]

Have tried so many Chinese TVs in the different hotels I've stayed in. Panget lagi UI - not intuitive and quite slow to respond. Also, the Devant TV in my in-laws' place began to deteriorate (blurred display) after just 2 years. Our Sony Bravia is over a decade old and still working as good as it did in day 1.

Personally when I was shopping for a TV, was only looking at the established brands (Sony, Samsung, LG, Sharp). Also considered other Japanese brands like Toshiba and Panasonic although they didn't really specialize in TVs. Yes the Chinese TVs are cheap and I know that they are OEM manufacturers of other brands, but for 5-10k difference vs the established brands, I didn't mind paying the premium.

Ended up with a Samsung NU8000 55" 4K Smart TV, got it for 39k last summer. A similarly spec'd TV would be cheaper now I assume.

This TCL Android is our 1st Chinese....no different from the Sony Android it replaced. Then again, I'm really not as descriminating as AVphiles on here like yourself, good sir. Needs are simple. The price difference sold me to guinea....Way way less than premiums of similar specs. Our SONYs have set the bar on TV life expectancy really low...I'll be content should this come close. Bonus, if hurdled.[emoji120]

i suppose, there is still truth to the old saying,
"we get what we pay for."

but...! if we are willing to lower our standards...
otherwise, stick to the famous name brands.

With those famous brands lowering the standards they earned their names from & the unknowns closing the gap or offering more for much less....One may be tempted to check the truth to another old saying,"You'll never know till you try.", doc.[emoji16]

Always found Sony to be reliable. Malas mo naman hehe.

When we were shopping, iba talaga video quality ng sony even vs Sharp, LG or Samsung eh. But that was 5 years ago ata.
