Personally when I was shopping for a TV, was only looking at the established brands (Sony, Samsung, LG, Sharp). Also considered other Japanese brands like Toshiba and Panasonic although they didn't really specialize in TVs. Yes the Chinese TVs are cheap and I know that they are OEM manufacturers of other brands, but for 5-10k difference vs the established brands, I didn't mind paying the premium.

Ended up with a Samsung NU8000 55" 4K Smart TV, got it for 39k last summer. A similarly spec'd TV would be cheaper now I assume.

This TCL Android is our 1st Chinese....no different from the Sony Android it replaced. Then again, I'm really not as descriminating as AVphiles on here like yourself, good sir. Needs are simple. The price difference sold me to guinea....Way way less than premiums of similar specs. Our SONYs have set the bar on TV life expectancy really low...I'll be content should this come close. Bonus, if hurdled.[emoji120]
