I'm planning on getting a new PC this xmas, and gusto ko sana mag 19" LCD na widescreen para mas ma excite nman ako pag naglaro na ako ehehe. Tanong ko lang if you have any tips when acquiring an LCD Display, iba iba kse price range kahit 19" sila pare pareho, iba ung response rate(ms), iba pa ung may DVI(ano ba to?) Nadinig ko din sa radio kanina ung promo ng AOC na trade in your old monitors and get an AOC 19" widescreen LCD for only P9999, may specs ba kyo nung model na sinasabi nila sa promo? what brand can you recommend and san ok bumili?

TIA

10 Buying Tips
By Alfred Poor

1. Consider viewing-angle performance if you plan to use the monitor to view images. The best way to judge is to see the unit in person.

2. Don't insist on digital interfaces: The images they yield are only marginally better than those from analog connections.

3. Pixel defects are a fact of life, and manufacturers are often vague about what merits replacement under warranty. If you complain enough, you may be able to get the monitor replaced.

4. LCDs are very reliable, but you should still look for a three-year warranty.

5. Speakers in LCD monitors tend to be of poor quality, so we don't recommend you base your purchase on them.

6. Check to see what cables are included. Manufacturers often don't provide the digital cable on dual-input models.

7. USB ports included with monitors are usually non-powered, passive hubs. A separate device is often better.

8. Included programs that let you configure display settings using your computer keyboard or mouse are a big improvement over struggling with tiny front-panel buttons.

9. An adjustable base is important. Tilt and height adjustments improve ergonomics, and a swiveling base is convenient.

10. Before you spend more for a panel that can rotate to portrait mode, make sure you'll use it. Portrait-capable LCDs, however, often have superior viewing-angle performance.

pa post naman ng link ng dead pixel tester mo.

may napansin kasi akong parang dead pixel dati, then hindi ko na pinansin for a long period of time. a few days ago, meron akong nakitang dead pixel ulit, pero yung una kong nakitang dead pixel, nawala.

*boybi, here is the link..

http://www.dps.uk.com/freeware_DTP.htm
- less than 200KB lang ata ung freeware pero reliable sya

Kung gusto mo mas madaling pang testing, try accessing the screen saver ng windows, choose blank and click on preview para mag all black ung screen mo, from there you can try to spot the dead pixels

AFAIK dapat yata "all black". AFAIK the dead pixel appears as a tiny bright speck, very small, kaya dapat all black.

Ganyan kasi yung nakikita ko dun sa isang LCD monitor namin dito sa opis.

mhelskie,

Go for the Samsung 940BW! I got mine for 12.5k from PCWORX GIlmore.

DA BOMB pare! 5ms Gray to gray, 8ms black to black.

Yun lang nga if youre coming from a huge CRT monitor, medyo demoted ka in terms of resolution. also, some games dont support widescreen, like nba live 07, so medyo oblong yung bola hehe.

Ang saya ng naka widescreen!

Ok din siguro yung AOC pero for an additional 2501 petot ayaw mo pa yung brand image, performance and 3 year warranty ng samsung?

BTW, i test mo muna for dead pixels. request mo lang sa store, sanay na yung mga yun. Mine has ZERO dead pix. TEsting dead pixels? dapat pure RED, then Pure BLUE then Pure GREEN yung screen as well as pure WHITE and Pure Black

Dead pixel = unlit pixel = on a white background, this appears to be a little black dot.

Hot pixel = always lit (often white) = on a black background, this apperas to a little white dot.

Stuck pixel
= a pixel that stays lit but with color, either R B or G.

To date, the best I've used (test run at my house) so far is LG-Philips Super IPS panel, 24" Widescreen.

pk,
bro, yup, im leaning towards Samsung 940BW, daming magandang feedback at ang pinaka attractive is the 3 yrs warranty! I have a 17" CRT monitor pero parang ayokong itrade for an AOC 19" widescreen(+ P9,999). Balita ko ganda daw ng widescreen sa NFS, para ka daw tlaga may windshield sa harap haha. Budget ko nga tlaga for a widescreen is 12.5k(para samsung na tlaga hehe). May dvi na ung samsung 940BW d ba?

Sir mackie, may update ba tyo jan?

AOC has a 3-year warranty also.... problema dun sa AOC you have the purchase cost of 10k plus you have to give them a working monitor...

Kung ganun sa Samsung ka na lang... 12.5k pero may extra monitor ka pa in case may problema...

If I'm not mistaken for a good cause yung sa AOC, kaya may nabasa ako na mahiya naman daw yung mga magbibigay ng may hidden defect/s.

Attractive talaga yung Samsung, madali pang kausap ang distro, diyan lang sa Libis.
