Image taken by rear camera of dash cam is flipped

My observation with my own dashcam is that, the live view is mirrored. So left objects in relation to your vehicle appear on the left side of the screen as you view it using the built-in LCD display.

However, when playing back the file on an external device (PC, mobile phone), the image orientation is correct. The object to the left of your vehicle will appear on the right of your screen upon playback.... just as how the camera sees it.

This means that the mirroring only happens on the dashcam's live view display.

the screenshot was from a video taken by the rear camera of my dash cam, the car was behind my car and was moving in the same direction as mine. You can see the plate number was vertically flipped.
