A Philips DVD player has a menu for Audio Settings. Try to play around with it and see(hear) if it works.... I experience this once in a while with my Philips DVD player, depending on the audio of the movie I am playing.....
What was the original connector of your home theater system? Why did need to buy an RCA adapter?

If I understood you correctly, yung Samsung HTIB mo has a built in DVD player. then nasira na siya.
Yung Philips mo naman is a plain DVD player. is that correct?
If that is the case, di talaga gagana yung speakers mo dun sa philips since wala itong amplifier section unlike the Samsung HTIB mo.
You need a receiver to connect the DVD to the speakers. But you should be careful in matching the receiver with your speakers. If you are not sure. Better get a new HTIB.

^^ Agree......
Di gagana yung speakers directly connected sa DVD player.... He-he! Kung may auxilliary port yung amp. mo (audio in L&R), dun mo i-connect yung audio out ng DVD player mo (red & white rca jacks) tapos yung monitor out ng DVD mo (yung yellow), diretso sa TV or LCD player mo.
Gagana na yan at sigurado, may tunog na yung speakers mo.......

nasira yong dvd player ng samsung? so ibig bang sabihin ayos pa rin yong amplifier section? meaning pag iba source mo, like radio (kung meron mang radio yon, which i assume it does), me naririnig ka? me audio inputs sa likod yong samsung?
kung yes sagot mo sa mga yon, ganito gawin mo. connect mo yong philips audio out (rca) going to one set of audio in ng samsung. lagay mo yong samsung sa correct source (e.g. aux 1, aux 2, etc.). tapos play mo na philips. kailangan lang pareho silang naka-on tuwing manonood ka.
as for your question kung bakit hindi gumagana, plain dvd player lang ba yong philips? kung oo, tama sila, wala kasi syang amplifier. speakers were meant to be connected to speaker terminals, hindi sa audio out or adapter. tsaka next time be careful when connecting speakers to an amp (or dvd player for this matter). kailangan magmatch yong impedance ng speakers and amp or else pag tagal baka masira sila pareho.

February 6th, 2009 04:02 PM #9HTIB: Samsung dvd player with 5.1 speakers (ung dvd player ang may sira, hindi na ng pplay kasi sira na ung loader tray daw and mainboard.
I'm trying to connect the speakers of samsung to my old Philips dvd player which is 5.1 also.
... db since ung philips dvd player ko ay may 5.1 connections sa likod gaya nung sa samsung dapat gagana kasi amp ng philips plyer ang mag ddrive ng speaker? parang imbis na samsung ung unit, pinalitan k lng ng philips.. anyway, ttry ko ung connection na audio out ng philips to aux in ng samsung ryt?
btw, sa mga gus2 bumili ng samsung products, think twice (IMO), bumili ako dati nung 42" lcd tv, after 3 months of use (8-10x use lng), may sira na sa audio niya, pina check ko since under warranty pa, naayos naman, problem lng daw sa loose connections, so ok na, after 2 months naman, nawawala nanaman ng sound n2, pinacheck ko ulit, ang sb sakin sira daw ung mainboard, sb ko palitan nila ng bago dahil defective, hindi daw pede, repair lng daw, siyempre nakaka bwisit parang bumili ako ng kamahal-mahal ang pangit ng aftersales nila. hinayaan k nlng at d ko na gano ginagamit. bumili rin ako ng htib, after ilang use not more than 20x, cira nanaman, pina service ko, lapse na warranty, ang diagnose, sira ung drive bay at mainboard. Again, mainboard nanaman, almost ka price nang brand new pag pinaayos, what a watse, so wothless products. ni email ko samsung philippines, puro sorry at regret sila sa na experience ko sa product nila, hell, ano magagawa nung sorry nila. never nako bibili ng products nila, ni tumingin sa showcase nila d na. kaya advice lng sa mga gus2ng bumili ng samsung, think twice. Sony pain talaga matibay for me. all of our sony tv's currently 7 (old and new ones) wala pa ni isa ni-service, old ones bought 12 yrs ago cguro or longer pa. ng try lng ako nitog samsung, palpak pa.

Question,- iyon bang connection mo from the DVD player goes to a subwoofer?
Typically kasi, nandoon ang amplifier ng HTS, and then the connections from the subwoofer go to the front, center and rear speakers..... Anyway, it could also be that the DVD player has the amplifier like what the rest are saying here....
