Sounds similar to our servers. It runs Linux and needs VMWare to run software on our Windows clients.

    * yaj: thanks for the recommendation B) Most Tyan motherboards seem to have 16mb video built in B). If the price is at par/lower than the Intel boards we have, go na to

*horsepower: will look into supermicro; pagkakaalam ko kasi they sell (presumably cheaper) rack mounted servers -- didn't know they sold boards as well

nope, the mobo should have two or 3 video card slots. unless the mobo is the new socket 1366 for i7core. most likely puwede SLI (nvidia), puwede din Crossfire (radeon) at the same time.

you can get a sli supported mobo * 1.8k though. but that's the oldest sli chipset. that's what I'm using right now Asus P5N-sli. however, I realize SLI is for future proof. buying a 2 less powerful card in SLI is still not as good as the highest end Card. I'm swapping my SLI mobo to another so I can proritize overclocking cpu instead that my current cannot reach.

btw, I hear Xeon chip is good for servers... looks good on everest 5 too.

Ahhh. But, you can buy 2 of the highest end cards and SLI them.

There are also "SLI" gpu's on a single board. Get two of them and have quad(?) SLI.

I do have to say someone must have a lot of money to waste for such a setup. I can't see myself spending that much just for games. The last time I did SLI was with 2 3dfx Voodoo2's back in the late 90's. Back in March, 1998, a single 12mb Voodoo2 was $300 plus taxes.

If I tried that today, it wouldn't sit too well with the wife.

ah yes, I forgot. yung may X2 models ex. like 9800GTX2 or + pala.

haha... would we want to sli a 19,000 card each? hehe...

what is the difference anyways, more fps? I think quality is the same under max settings with a 9800GT. I think as long as it doesn't drop 30fps, ok naman siguro diba?

my xfx video card cover says sli for future proof, because they believe in it's time, it is capable of playing Max settings on current games when it was released.

any mobo basta PCIE, kahit PCIE 1.0 lang puwedeng puwede. the latest tech is PCIE 2.0, but I hear kunti lang difference under benchmark tests.

dag-dag mo nalang budget mo for a 52" LCD instead of a GTX295. hehe... I think a 9800GTX is already enough to get you max setting on latest games.

definitely. 9500gt is not really old. it is just a new low end card that even a real old 8600GT 512Mb can beat it.

nag benchmark test kasi ako sa world in conflict na game.

5 - 7 ang average. 22 ang maximum and 3 ang lowest in a 1280x1024 na resolution with all the settings in maximum (very high). ang bagal sobra.

expensive nga ang gtx295 pero i think tatagal naman. (ilang years pwedeng di magpalit)

haha... 9500gt is a low end card indeed. if the shop accepts upgrade swap, swap it to a 9600gt 512mb, it will be almost 3 times better than your 9500GT.

take a look where your card is ranked.

this Q3-Q4, Direct 11 cards will be available for the market for the Windows7. so gtx 295 will drop fast. gtx295 will still be fast, but it won't be giving some new features for incoming games.

example: crysis, in XP, you cannot go to maximum settings because XP is officialy DirectX9 and Crysis go for DirectX10 for Max(though hackers claim they can hack it to DX10 but I tried it and it didn't seem to work)
