    here's the set-up:
    1. desktop PC with pldt dsl in my room (using pldt modem PL-DSL1)
    2. laptop in kid's room

    TIA

basically you'll need a wireless router connected to your existing modem.
    here's the link home networking

PLDT DSL modem --> wireless router --> a. wireless notebook adapter, b. wired/wireless yung desktop, your call

Linksys palang nagamit ko, user friendly naman.

isang wireless router lang ang kelangan mo. if the laptop does not have wifi capability, then you will need a usb wifi adapter or pcmcia wifi adapter.

fyi, the PLDT PL-DSL1 modem-router is configured to just act as a modem. it can't share internet connection with the other ports.

you might also need to consider where to place the wireless router kasi hindi masyadong nakakapenetrate ung signal sa mga concrete walls. i'm also using Linksys ung WRT54G v7

    thanks guys..

i only need to share the internet connection. di kailangan i-share yung mga files kasi mga kids ang gagamit ng laptop, baka makita mga secret files ko..

    eto yung nakakabit sa laptop;
    LINKSYS INSTANT WIRELESS-B NOTEBOOK ADAPTER
    MODEL NO - WPC11 V.4

plug and play po yun wireless router. siya na mag search ang other wireless units. unless you want to secure your access may provision naman for security yun wireless router.

you can not go wrong with this. i am using the same and 1 desktop 1 laptop din ang gumagamit. 1 wall is too thin para bumaba signal mo, i even use the notebook downstairs and even outside the garage. and they are right, even if the desktop is off , the laptop may still use the same connection. up to you if you want a password or not so your neighbors will not have free access.got my linksys for 1.5t from a friend, second hand siya. dito sa states ang mura ngayon event he belkin is really cheap. if only i have buyers i would have brought home some.

magagamit mo internet connection basta naka-on yung router and dsl modem.

Yung linksys merun lang initial configuration set-up, para marunong itong mag-dial ng kusa sa dsl line....once na set-up na ok na...bale even without the computer it will connect itself to the internet whenever naka-on ang router and modem and broadcast the internet connection.

If you have a surge protector and UPS (I use APC na tig P4000 lang), maganda rin to protect your modem and router from current fluctuations and surges.

WRT54GC is the compact wireless router, mas mahina ang signal nito.
    i don't know what S is for.
