Kenz, stretch mo yung budget mo up to 20k tapos makakabili ka na niyan. HP Mini is around 20k din. Saw an acer in sm city 20k din, maliit nga lang

i think asus eepc kaya yata within that budget???? or baka nasa 18k nga yata yun. maliliit so compact at maliit display but works ok for a net book you are saying. kaso usual battery life ng mga price na ganyan nasa 2 to 3+ hours lang

The best netbook you can find at your budget is the P13K priced Acer Aspire One 8G. But even that comes with a 3 cell battery good for between 2 to 2.5 hours battery life. It comes with Linux but you can install WinXP on your own.

If you want this, better call ahead if they still have stock.

Alternative is to up your budget and get the Acer Aspire One with 8.9" LCD, six cell battery and 120gig HDD at P16,995.

    or

You can pick the MSi Wind U100x for P15,500...

What ever you choose, avoid netbooks with the following:

-3 cell battery - very short battery life usually 1.45hours to 2.5 hours with typical usage.

-less then 9" or 8.9" LCD display with only 800x450 screen resolution - early netbooks came with 7" LCD which makes the display small and hard to read even with good vision. Screen resolution lower than 1024x600 would result having to side-scroll websites when you surf the internet. The standard width of a webpage is about 1000pixels.

-harddrive space total less than 20gigs - If you plan to install Windows, WinXP already takes up about 4 to 5 gigs of space plus the space required to install other software and files.

-unknown brand - netbooks are still computers and having a branded computer would at least have some support later if something fails within warranty.

-too small sized keyboard - some netbooks have keyboards which are too small for comfortable use. Better to pick a netbook at near to full size keyboard.

If you ask me... for the budget under P18,000... I would get the following:

    Acer Aspire One... Intel® Atom™ N270 8.9in. 1Gb 120Gb lan wifi 0.3MP cam, six cell battery (5,200mAh) ---- PhP 16,995.00

Although it lacks bluetooth, it has two SD card slots, wifi b/g, 3 usb ports. The 8.9" LCD screen is very sharp & colors are crisp (great for watching videos) but tends to glare because it's surface is smooth. Expect battery life to be around 4 to 5 hours with the six cell pack under normal use.

Its a good value for money netbook with a lot of following here and overseas.
