I'm surprised it took you that far before you decided to cancel the transaction.
Outside of "kaliwaan" or meet-ups, unless you're using a platform such as eBay, you won't have protection selling stuff online.
Very common and typical ang ganyang scheme ngayon Mr. Big. Tinatarget nila kadalasan sa OLX.
Via Email ung transaction at kunwari nasa ibang bansa sila. And interested sila sa unit mo kesyo mura daw or reasons like ipadala mo daw sa kamag-anak nya parang gift nya.

naranasan ko a buyer from abroad says he will buy my item plus pay for shipping
asked for my acct number
few hours later he says already deposited and demands immediate shipping
i checked my acct wala naman pumasok
buyer kept emailing me demanding immediate shipping
sabi ko show me proof of payment wala naman mapakita
May araw din mga yan Sir. Karma is a b~tc~. If may naloko man syang iba, mas grabe mawawala sa kanya![]()
i was also curious and a little bit greedy..malay natin pumasok, the email i gave was rarely used, plus the bank acctn has only 2k pesos..

With the same buyer?
It's not to say that there aren't any legit buyers from abroad. But chances of getting taken advantage of is higher in an open ad or forum. Platforms such as eBay, Paypal, et al. have mechanisms in place to protect both sellers and buyers. Even so, you still occasionally hear of people getting scammed on eBay. The difference is, more often than not, those incidents are often eventually resolved.
I once was able to get my money back from Paypal when the item I ordered from HK never arrived. The seller weren't responding to my messages so I opened up a dispute on Paypal, which got his attention. For the record, he wasn't scamming me.... the item eventually arrived after 5 months through regular post. I paid back the refunded money as soon as I received the item.
nope, i was a different person

South African countries are a dead giveaway for scammers ... their internet cafes are filled with people who just scam all day ... it's like in some parts of Nigeria, their most common work is piracy ... some parts of South Africa have scamming as main line of work ...
