not sure about Nokia e72 pero you may have to load a map of the PH first. do a search of the forums meron na previous topics here on gps receivers.

Initial lock-on of the GPS receiver in your mobile phone will take a few minutes.
It would also help if you can have your phone outside with a clear view of the sky.
You can also turn on A-GPS (assisted GPS) so the mobile phone can use cellphone towers to quickly and roughly locate where you are. This feature is handy if you need to know your location in a hurry without waiting for the GPS to lock.Last edited by ghosthunter; October 20th, 2010 at 09:03 PM.

i think you have to load the PH map first. you can install the ovi suite on your PC, connect your phone to your PC and download the map using it.
on a side note, I think ovi maps (at least the PH map) is crap. google maps mobile (at least on my blackberry) does a way better job imo.

I use Garmin Mobile XT on my E71. Works pretty well. The routable map from roadguide.ph is very useful. :D

October 21st, 2010 12:00 AM #9ovi maps and philippine map is preinstalled na sa nokia e72. matagal talaga mag lock yung GPS. if you want it to be faster, mag A-GPS ka kaya lang may bayad yun sa network provider mo. sakin yung nokia e72 ko nung unang gamit ko ng GPS takes about 15minutes. pero nung lagi ko na ginagamit naging mga 1-3 minutes na lang nakakakuha na siya ng lock. not sure kung nagkataon lang.
the best GPS pa rin yung dedicated GPS devices like car navi. detailed philippine street maps pati mga one way meron. pati loob sa subdivision nalalagyan nya unlike sa nokia ovi map...

Even without the proper map, the GPS on the mobile phone would still lock on to the location and simply display your position on a blank "map".
Nokia Maps actually is good enough for most. Just update the map to the latest release to get the details. The typical map included in the phones are old versions which only have the major roads.
