Just in case you haven't heard about Skype,
it's a VoIP (voice over internet protocol) software
which was created by the makers of Kazaa.

They claim that it has better sound quality than regular phone lines or current VoIP software out there. (i.e. YM's voice chat feature, Internet Phone, Cisco's VoIP solutions, etc.)

Has anybody here ever tried it yet? I've downloaded it
but have not yet been able to test it due to my busy schedule, but i'm planning to test it over the weekend.

    download skype at this site

oh yeah... it's in its Beta version now... and is totally free....

We are now using it in our company. It's great. This would translate to a lot of saving in telephone bills considering that we have offices nationwide and in Southeast Asia. I'm now trying the Beta version.

Pwede to landline or cellphone, pero may bayad na. You need to buy Skype Credit.

I've tried it and its great. You can call PC to PC, or PC to landline/mobile or a landline/mobile can call you.

Yung PC to PC lang ang free but the rates for calling a normal phone (skype out) are still quite low. Pwede ka ding tawagan ng normal phone (skype in) sa computer mo (competitive rates uli). Another nice thing sa kanya is that there's a linux version.

You open an account with them at the skype website and then you buy skype credits using your credit card. Iba iba yung per minute rates depende sa destination country. For example, calls to US landlines from your PC here will cost about 2.5 US cents per minute (kasama na VAT)

I e-mailed my sister in Sydney to install Skype para libre na ang tawag. Laking tipid ito.

    BTTT.

Does anyone have fresh feedback regarding this software/service? My relatives overseas are urging me to get a webcam so we can talk more often. I just want to ask how secure (against viruses, spyware, etc) and reliable (downtime, performance lags) Skype is compared to NetMeeting or other video conferencing products.

Our office is using Skype ANG LAKI ng tipid lalo sa International calls. Walang "I'll call back again" para maghanap ng files ng matagal. kahit naka connect ka at iwan mo ok lang ala kc bayad kapag PC to PC... Tapos with webcam pede mo pa ipakita ung mga pics mo or products without need to scan them and send through email mas mabilis.

I also tried this when I was in Europe. Ang misis ko na ang sumusuko sa telebabad using Skype. Clear ng line specially if you are on DSL or broadband and it is free.
