Sir, the reason I ask whether it is more feasible to do primary or secondary metering is because of the highlighted part. Will my opex be high since we will buying the transformer if we proceed with the primary metering? or will my electricity billing be much higher if we proceed with the secondary metering since meralco will provide the transformer and of course this will be charge to us in our monthly billing.

Your initial cash out will be more if you buy transformer, than letting Meralco supply the transformer. Do not that even if Meralco owns the transformer, you may still have to pay them for it. They will compute the amount based on the cost of the transformer and wires needed for the project.

I'm not sure of your monthly billing will be lower with a primary meter. I am in a province not serviced by Meralco. Theoretically, it should be lower. But since Manila Water charges everything back to the consumer, how can we be sure that Meralco does not have the same practice. If you read your bill, there is system loss, missionary electrification and a whole lot of other stuff.

My view is, just get everything from Meralco. This way, you dont have to worry about maintenance. You also wont need to buy the transformer, wires and protective devices. And if the transformer blows or catches fire, Meralco will replace it for you. Also, the transformer losses will be part of the system loss. If you go with a primary meter, you may still be charged for system loss and your primary meter will register your transformer losses.

What's your business and how many KVA transformer do you need?
