SSD, solid state drive.. instead of the traditional hard disk, parang dikit dikit na memory disk na lang sya.. wala nang moving mechanical parts.. mas mabilis compared to regular hard disk.. think big flash disk..

Anyway, I think a suitable replacement for the Lenovo G470 would be another 14" Lenovo? I mean, it makes sense to me.
I wouldn't recommend a slim form-factor ASUS. They're plastic and they wiggle like crazy.
However, my (non-slim) old ASUS RoG G46VW is built like a tank. The outer lid has a rubberized texture. It's got dedicated (silent) fans and vents for both the i5-3230m CPU and GTX 660m GPU. Being a 14" laptop, there are no wiggles whatsoever. The lid opens and and closes so stiff, it feels brand new. I used an external keyboard n mouse. So, the keyboard and trackpad are pristine. Hardly any scratch or dent.
If the Lenovo G470 exterior is still in good shape, I would upgrade it to an SSD, 8GB RAM, and new battery.
But, if the keys are all worn out, the laptop has an overall beat-up look, and some ports/devices are getting flaky behavior, then it's time to buy a new one.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; May 31st, 2019 at 02:19 PM.

I'm thinking this. Excellent reviews and similar to the specs that Jut recommended for the cheaper laptops. It's the best seller in Amazon so it must be good [emoji14]
Oh, it's a hard disk/storage pala. Thanks for the explanation.

Not necessarily i3. If you'll get an AMD though, get a quad-core AMD because the i3 today already has a quad-core.
Even if you're not a heavy user, having a quad-core CPU is good future-proofing because you keep laptops for a long time. Also suggest to get at least 8GB RAM so you won't need to upgrade down the line.
SSD (solid state drive) is also a must. As explained, it makes loading apps and booting up much, much faster than a traditional hard drive. Only drawback is cost - for the price of a 256GB SSD, you can already get a 1TB hard drive. Would suggest to get a laptop with 256GB SSD then just get an external hard drive if you have a lot of files.

I don't want to upgrade kasi, I prefer stock na lang. All my files in my old laptop, I was able to fit in a 128 gb usb stick with lots of extra space pa [emoji14] I don't want to go over USD400 sana kasi I spent my original budget already hehe

May 31st, 2019 06:29 PM #69Yung mga bagong laptops ngayon, usually starting dun sa mga i3 series pataas, meron na silang m.2 port. With that, you can just buy an m.2 SSD then you get to keep the mechanical drive pa. This is what I did when I bought a new laptop for my wife. I bought her an Asus X407UA laptop and bought a 128gb m.2 SSD and additional 8gb of ram. I moved the OS to the ssd and set the documents to be saved in the mechanical drive.
Edit:
If you are going to buy an AMD laptop, suggest to get at least ryzen processor na para mas bagong architecture. That is kung more on multi-tasking ang ginagawa mo sa laptop mo madalas.

Replaced with the Pilot Sport 5 na ata, but the available sizes aren't yet as broad as the PS4.
