The Sony Viao P13 is all eye-candy. It's not really something anyone would use on a daily basis. This is something you might want to bring to a party to show off your latest gadget.

The Lenovo S10 is more practical mobile pc.

    I have the Acer Aspire One AO751h (11.6", Atom Z520 1.33GHz) as I posted a while back.

My problem now is it's too 'effin slow!! Argh! Here are details:
    OS: WinXP Home SP3
    Browser: Firefox
    Anti-Virus: AVG
    Anti-Spyware: Spybot Search and Destroy
IM: Yahoo Messenger 8.1 (had to revert from ver.9 because is slows my system down)
Sidebar: Google Desktop (which I rely on weather, time, and news feeds)

    Hardware:
    Memory: 1GB
    Processor: Atom Z520 1.33GHz
    HD: 160GB

I'm thinking of upgrading to 2GB memory. Do you guys think it would improve my system?

    I see the problem:

Remove Google Desktop. It will slow any PC down.

Upgrade to 2gb RAM. Any little bit helps.

Install eBoostr if you have an SD Card you don't use (PM me your email, i can send you the entire software & keygen). This can help speed up the loading of apps.

    OR...

You can sell the Acer and get the same netbook as I have.

    MSi Wind12 U210x

AMD Athlon Neo 1.6ghz dual core (some have overclocked this to 2.0ghz)
    RAM: 2gb (max 2gb only)
HDD: 250gb (currently upgraded to 500gb)
    Video: Radeon X1270
    LCD: 12inch (Hi-Def quality)
Battery: 9-cell (good for 7 to 8 hours)
OS: none (I installed MS Windows 7 Ultimate)

    P21,750 only

agree with gh, remove the google desktop, it uses too much resources.
you may also want to use Panda Cloud virus for your anti spyware and anti-virus, light lang ang resource use nya.
and you may also want to use Opera as your browser... magaang sya. i've been using this for more than two months na. works faster than mozilla.

    check also portableapps...

*GH - really? I like the Google desktop kse eh. hehehe! Cge, tanggalin ko na. I just need to have a world clock on my desktop (local and Manila times), and weather. Ano kaya ang maganda?

That's nice!! Hanap ako dito nyan. hehe!

*Sir Vlad - Ano yung Panda Cloud? Is it better than AVG free or MS Security Essentials? Yung sa browser, try ko yung Opera. BTW, I was able to find some tweaks on my Firefox, so ngayon, mabilis na sya! :D

Thanks for the replies GH and Sir Vlad!

If you want a analog clock on your desktop, try this:

No world time but answers the rest of your requirements.

As for the weather, why not just get a weather plug-in to your browser? It's a better and cleaner solution than having a separate weather app on your desktop. This is what I use for my weather needs.

Or you can download the desktop app from: http://www.weather.com/

Netbooks are cheap nowadays. I own a Fujitsu Lifebook! Very small and handy.

For purposes of browsing the internet quickly...I use my phone...HTC Advantage X7510 (Windows Mobile) via Opera or Pocket Internet Explorer.

We just got the Acer Aspire One D250-10.1" for my daughter to use for her school work when she needs to use MS programs. My wife got it from AAFES online for $199.

    Great price.

The only complaint from me about the Acer Aspire D250 is the cramp keyboard.

They re-used the same keyboard from the smaller Aspire One 9inch on the D250. Although it saved some re-tooling costs, it resulted in a keyboard layout that didn't maximize the keyboard deck area for easier typing.

I agree with the cramp keyboard because I tried to use it and it was too small for my big hands. My daughter doesn't have very big hands so it's fine for her as a short term use computer for her needs. I still prefer to use my Mac Book and the same with my wife and her Mac so we each have our own to use for now. I really wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't for the teacher requiring her to use MS instead of the Mac.

There are other netbooks of the same price level and same 10inch LCD size as the Acer Aspire D250 but with a better keyboard layout like the ones from HP, MSi Wind U100 series and Asus 1000H series netbooks.

Anyway, for under US$200, I wouldn't complain (much) since my first netbook was an Acer Aspire One 8G (with 8.9 inch LCD).

Hard to say because many of the netbooks they rated aren't even available here like the Samsung netbooks.

Anyway, the reign of Intel Atom as the CPU of choice for the netbooks is pretty much at an end with the release of netbooks with AMD Neo and Intel Core 2 Solo processors giving netbooks a boost in computing power.

Can anyone help me to purchase an Asus EEE 1005HA (seashell) netbook.

I am looking for one for under P16,000 (if possible).

    Thanks!

After all the sales and hype about the "netbook" ... I have recently read an article saying that netbooks are becoming an "endangered" product because of new products like the Apple iPad and cheaper entry level notebooks.

My take on this, the netbook has it's niche market. All those who were rushing to buy a netbook has already bought one so sales have slowed down these days.

Do you own a NETBOOK?
