Out of warranty na po.

Just asking:
    - any idea sa service charge ng Sony for checkup at repair?

Check mo by introducing a signal ( laptop, game console, dvd player etc )
Check mo kung gumagana yung on screen menu
Kung gumaganayung menu problem nyan e backlight.
Nagkaroon ng elec surge yan so most likely psu problem una check,

have it brought to the sony repair shop po.
raon might be cheaper and they might even be able to fix it, but... hirap punta raon.. masikip.. matrapik.. madaming tao.. malayo paradahan, jeepney stop, or bus stop, sa pintuan ng repair shop.
the sony repair shop near kalaw has parking 2 feet from the door.
whatever problem you may be able to diagnose DIY-style, you will still have to bring it to the fixit shop, unless you are an electronics-repair savvy..
and no... they do not pad repair expenses, as far as i know..
magkano repair fee? natural, depende kung ano ang nasira.. mura lang diagnosis fee.. they will even advise you if it "is not worth repairing"..

we had experience comparing sony repair shop versus ex-sony technician.. hindi nagkakalayo..

Stay away of Raon as surely you'll be in more trouble than having it fix. For one, LCD tvs goes by board level repairs meaning palit board, rather than component level lang. This is how they are gonna take care of pag sa service center. But then, highly qualified techs an gagawa at cgurado kang it will be fixed. Your cheap version will be a trusted neighborhood electronics repair shop who has the ability to diagnose device level on pcb. He should have the right tools though rather than a trial & error method.

YOu can bring it to a Sony Centre near you.

If they can't fix it, they will instead give you an 8K voucher so you can have an 8k discount for your next tv purchase (which of course, is a Sony).

Same thing happened to an aunt, her old Sony LCD TV conked out (screen was damaged, because something was thrown at it). She bought a 40" WB600 internet TV instead. She's almost 80 so she's not really into internet but she just bought it because I recommended it (for her grandchildren).

Still no signal nung kinabit ko yung laptop through HDMI, same with Xbox. Blackout talaga ang display and no sound.

Maraming salamat guys sa input nyo, I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Most likely a power surge caused by lightning instead of hitting the antenna

in my experience, the more common problem with my sonys is... the power switch!
for some reason, madali siyang masira.. fortunately, madali ring gawin.

What everybody needs but is usually ignored, is proper grounding (that third prong on most plugs). Unfortunately, this is not a common practice in residential wiring because of the added cost during construction. If they do employ 3-holed receptacles, it may not even have a functional ground.

AVRs, surge suppressors, UPSes, including most appliances that employs a built-in surge suppression circuit, works best only if it can find the path of least resistance to dissipate the electrical surge. This is to say that these surge suppressors will only work if a path to ground exists. Otherwise, extensive damage to sensitive components can occur and may even cause injury to nearby people who may be touching the equipment at the time of the strike.

When I had my home renovated, I insisted that areas where high-valued appliances were situated (ie. main computer, home theater, server closet, water heaters and the whole kitchen for safety) were to have a functional three-hole grounded outlets. Touching a metal sink or faucet while your other hand accidentally touching an ungrounded appliance will oftentimes results to electrocution.

Fyi, another entry point for surge is through the cable TV/internet and telephone/DSL).

It should, as long as it's grounded to earth properly.

Lightning arrester is useless without the grounding rod.. Static electricity path is always towards the earth, without the proper path(grounding) static will make its way to the electronics up to the power outlet ir anything near the ground.. The ideal loop of grounding system is 4 to 8 ohms.

Surge protection will depend on how the surge enters the line. Usually its line-ground-neutrAl.all those points of entry must be fused line- to-line and line-to-ground using a varistor or gas discharge fuse.

Electro static discharge ang minsan fault since most tv today use sensitive iC which are very sensitive to elec surges unlike solid state devices na mataas ang tolerance against ESD or ES kaya advisable talaga na may proper grounding ang lahat ng devices.avr are not 100 % effective as everyone might think.from time to time nagkakaroon din ng spike yang mga yan.my advice if using an antenna install a ground rod or a lightning arrester.disconnect the aerial antenna from your tv kapag may thunderstorm kasi kahit nakapatay unit mo prone parin na madamage.
