I will try to do that. Pacheck ko na din muna siguro sa computer shop at baka sa connection ang problem and not the keyboard itself. Hassle sa anak ko yung may usb powered keyboard kasi. Hehe.

Tapos Toshiba niya mukhang HD failure na kasi black screen na eh. Mas gusto niya yung lenovo because of the better hardware.

If it really is a HDD failure, common yan for any laptop brand due to the nature of its portability. I have seen 15 year old HDDs running decently on a desktop. Whereas yung sa laptop, hindi madalas lumagpas ng 3 years before starting to fail.

An SSD should fix that and will last waaaaaaay longer.

Also noticed entry level Lenovos needing keyboard replacements din a few years in. Ito yung mga Lenovo Ideapad 300/305 series IBD/ISK/IKB.

I just bought a battery back sa Shopee for my Lenovo G40-30. Meron din sa Lazada kaso mas mahal ng konti. I tried replacing the 18650 cells in the battery pack. Kaso totoo pala ang tsismis na may chip sa battery pack na naka-record kung ilang beses na na-charge ang cells. Kaya pala okay pa yung lumang 18650 cells eh may warning na agad. Dami ko tuloy 18650 cells sa bahay.

Yup unless you can "reset" the charge cycle counter. It took 6 years before it happened (occasional use) so sulit na din.

Went to a lenovo service center. Hindi nga din sila nagpapalit ng cell

When a single cell goes bad, the protection circuit stops current from coming in (won't charge) or from getting out (no power to the load). Replacing the faulty cell won't automatically bring it back.

It's not based on a counter. It basically compares the relative voltages of each bank of batteries. When a cell becomes defective, the voltage for that bank will measure lower compared to the good bank which indicates a bad battery so it locks down to prevent fire hazards. This is a hard lock and in all intents and purposes, is permanent. Some can be reset if the technician knows how to do it safely.

This is just one of the many functions of a battery protection circuit. Depending on the design, it can also monitor the pack's temperature, current flow, and cell health, etc.

It's typically easier to just buy a new battery pack (or a quality replacement one) rather than pry open the old pack. Just think about it... if one of the battery dies out, the other cells won't be too far behind in their lifespan.

I already replaced my Lenovo G40's keyboard twice. The replacements work great but the Fn keys layout is not the same.
One useful tip I got from work-at-home groups is to use an external keyboard when you're at home. So when I bought the second replacement, I threw in a wireless keyboard as well. It's more comfortable when working for hours aside from saving the laptop keyboard from wear and tear. You break it, it's easier to replace.

I got my son a RAK mechanical keyboard for the Asus i5 laptop since he plays a lot of FPSs. Very good value for 2k and it's a local company too.

Same here. I use a mouse and external keyboard on all my laptops. I have a cheap Perixx chiclet keyboard for my laptop. It's corded keyboard. But, it also is backlit. I don't have to worry about wearing out the WASD keys on the laptop.

Not worth repairing the pack since it will just give you problems with the finish and durability. You may discard the old 18650 batteries, recover the working ones, and use on taclight or any 18650 projects.

Old case of my laptop broke so have to use it naked for now. Order from Lazada ships from overseas so likely will be delayed. Made me realize it looks really nice without a case - other MBP owners, do you use a case for your laptops? Looks nice but deliks if magkadent since it's so visible.

Yeah my other laptop meron na rin mga gasgas kahit never nabagsak. Di lang halata kasi carbon fibre vs the aluminum finish on the Mac.

Ano case gamit mo bro? Maghahanap pa lang ako, isa lang available ni BTB hindi ko trip.

And gusto ko hindi gaano makapal yung case, nga pala wala ba issue re: cooling pag may case ang MB?

Inorder ko lang from Lazada yung case ko before. Mura nga (600 lang IIRC) pero 1 year lang tumagal. Better buy yung mga branded like yung mga nasa Powermac. Yung sa MBP ng dad ko parang 2 years na hindi parin nasisira yung Speck case niya, parang 1.8k ata yun. Plus the branded ones have better design for cooling too and manipis lang din.

Edit: So I read around and generally people advise against using cases and covers because of the heating issue. So probably won't get a replacement case anymore for my laptop. Di naman siya usually nababagsak pag ginagamit, damage happens during transport and I have a laptop case for that.

I personally don’t use cases on the MBs I’ve owned. But I do put them in a slip cover when I carry them in a bag (to prevent scratches).

I did drop one of them a few years back onto a concrete pavement which left a small dent on the side. A plastic encased laptop might have shattered with bits flying everywhere.

I’ve become a lot more careful when taking them out of my bag now.
