Medyo OT: I was hesitant but stil I bought a KOLIN 29 inch crt tv. March 2004 pa yun, so far so good. It was even promoted from bedroom tv to a main tv I was told by the salesman that TCL and KOLIN are made in the RP. Both uses Toshiba/sony picture tubes. I bought the TV mainly because of the cheap price as in 30% cheaper tha Sonys.

KOLIN has a line of LCD TVs by the brand of SYNTAX. Due to a good experience with Kolin, Im contemplating on buying a SYNTAX LCD TV. Underrated yung brand na to pero its a good alternative for those on a budget.

Well, yes and no. Tokyo Cathode manufactures mainly semiconductors and LCD testing equipment. They don't manufacture directly LCD screens.

The company that makes TCL teevees is based in Guangdong.

Last 2004, TCL joined forces with Thompson UK to form TTE Corporation. TTE is one of the biggest manufacturers of TVs in the world. In fact, they might be the biggest. Magaganda ang plasma TVs ng TCL - Thompson.

TTE Corporation is based in Shenzen China, I think.

Well, mayron din. For example, Altadox, a U.S. firm, has it's manufacturing plant in mainland China. Although, mas maraming LCD manufacturers sa Taiwan.

i got a Kolin 29" crt this month as a rewards gift from a supplier, ok lang naman but the viewable screen is just around 26", anliit compared to my toshiba 29" crt's actual viewable screen area. and the sound is like tin can..i plan to install a small speaker system. one advantage the kolin has is the speaker out, i guess becoz of the teeny weeny speaker sound.

crt technology eh medyo matagal na .. so feeling ko kahit anong brand maka-US, Japan or China eh ok lang .. nagtatalunan nalang sila ng mga "special" features .. like PIP, tv-games, etc ..

    guys,

may PSP(Playstation Portable) ako nakita dito sa china, worth 1.5k RMB about 10k sa atin. I am thinking of getting one.... what do you think?

Also, magkano yun 30inches na LCD(or flatscreen) sa bayan natin? I'm trying to compare prices here.

    thanks

yeah! mura nga. I think I'm too old for PSP but I love playing video games esp. when traveling, the psp looks nice to have when killing time.

the chinese CRT Tv here are also cheap at 2-3k RMB for 20-30 inches. they are like 12 to 18k only. totally cheaper than the branded TV's we have

oii.... wag nyong maliitin ang China pagdating sa electronics...almost lahat ng sikat na brand eh made in china na sa ngayon....yang mga ipod nyo eh china made na....yang nokia nyo eh china made na.... yang IBM, HP/Compaq laptop and desktop nyo eh made in china na....yung sony/panasonic na dvd player nyo dyan eh made in china na rin.....even the entry level to mid level na Nad AVR eh made in china na rin...heck pati nga yang Marantz eh meron na ring components na made in china.....

I know you will say that the design eh galing naman sa Japan, Germany, USA...etc...but the point is don nga sila nag-uumpisa...natututunan na nila yung mga latest technology from varied countries and very very soon....they will be a power to reckon with pagdating sa mga eletronics and other technology....

Ganon din naman ang Korea dati di ba....yung mga sasakyan nga nila like Hyundai and KIa's eh mostly from mitsubishi's bin....even the engine block is copied/licensed from mitsu....but look at them now..... heck even Samsung and LG in their early days hire an electronic design engineer from Germany and US... but look at them now...they are one of the giants of the electronic industry.....

So ang masasabi ko lang, very very soon, titingalain na rin natin ang mga MADE IN CHINA products like what we are perceiving now regarding Korean brands....

ang tanong eh asan ang bansa natin na supposedly eh andito halos lahat ang resources para makagawa ng maayos at kahanga-hangang produkto?? nasaan??
