Peeps, I heard that cd-r king is a provider of low cost electronics/IT products. Any feedback on their products, are they worth buying? thanks.

A lot of their stock of in-house products are Chinese items stencilled with their logo. Like GH says, you're getting what you pay for.

I still buy all my DVD-Rs there... can't beat the price...

same here, I buy my DVD+Rs from them... I just wish the price for dual layer DVDRs get lower faster. The cheapest ones still cost P50 each so it's not yet economical to use dual layer vs regular DVD+Rs yet.

The items that we bought from them (optical mouse, headphones/microphone, webcam, flash drives, dvd-rs, game controllers, memory cards, memory card readers et al) are still functional. No complaints....

380 for an xbox replacement controller S... can't beat that, i was so happy when I found it coz it was much better than those china knockoffs in tiangges that cost 700 bucks...

480 for a BP511 battery pack * 1300mAh is a great deal as well... Compared to Quiapo batteries that are generic as well but costs 700 bucks (let's not even go to OEM prices at over 1K)

many of their items are branded as well, things like Kingston, PQI etc are renowned reliable brands.

one of the reasons why CDR-KING items are cheaper is they have basically cut out the "middle man". They source their items from China and sell them in their own outlets. No more needing to market & distribute the items to other retail outlets since CDR KING has reached a certain level of critical mass where it has enough shops to sustain it's own imports and brand specific items.

CDRKing is a godsend to almost every gadget freak out there... those simple USB hubs, card readers are so cheap (<200) it makes zero sense to get similar products that costs 3x more... Here in SG, there are typical China/Taiwan card readers, USB hubs and other accessories that costs 400-500 bucks, screw that....

Kung nasira, bili ulit. Some items are really dirt cheap that if they fail within a year or so, its ok to buy again.

my 4GB, 1GB flash drives, 2 GB micro sd card, and 8 in 1 card reader are still alive and kicking! Almost 1 year na sila. Yung optical mouse na binili ko, nasira agad yung mouse wheel. Chambahan siguro. Damn, I miss cdr-king already...

Tell me about it. Dun din kami kumukuha ng DVD-Rs and CD-Rs for reselling. One thing we noticed though, is that their generic DVD-Rs tend to be way more reliable than their branded ones, particularly iOmega.

My mom-in-law bought one of their generic mp4 players as a gift to my dad-in-law last year; it's still working. Ditto with the generic speakers my wife bought for her office PC. I'm thinking of getting a 2GB microSD card myself, for my 6300.

I buy a lot of stuff from them. CDRs, DVDs, sd card, card reader, usb hub, photo paper etc...

The SD Card is slow. But its so cheap so I can live with it. For some reason it is not compatible with my laptops built in card reader, but it works with both my Xacti and digital cam. Solution, bought a cheap card reader from them.

The slow SD card isn't really a fault, though... The reason why they're cheap is because they're the basic, lower end of the card models... High speed cards are really expensive, I don't think they'll bother covering those high-end stuff.

Like the Kingston 2GB CF cards for 1200, that's the standard range, the Kingston Ultimate range goes for about 2800 for the same capacity.

    OT:

    theveed,

why not make a biz like CDR-King in Singapore? I'm sure malaki ang biz potential ng cheap electronics dyan... like memory cards and CDR/DVDRs. I remember, CDR King started with purely CDRs lang and DVDRs came in later. And their stores are also small lang muna (like retails shops).... I'm sure you can get contacts in Hongkong for these cheap CDRs and DVDRs
