My PC suddenly can't play MKV files. I'm using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. I tried to uninstall and reinstall it but still can't play my MKV files. Even the sound is not audible.

Have you tried re-select the file formats that Media Player Classic should be defaulted to read?

When I double click the MKV file, MPC is the default player. Is that what you mean?

VLC is the easiest way. But, sometimes the picture quality is so so.

Another method would be Windows Media player with the XP Codec pack. Or Vista codec pack if you have Vista.

As for Divx...... I switched to the much more lightweight xVid codec and uninstalled Divx.
