off topic kana s_quilicot. "Best and Cheapest Video Card" ata ang thread

I think it's a monster card. but may company of heroes picture din yung GTX260. Imo, kung may budget ako sa high-end at the same time need a powerful enough card. I'd buy a 2nd hand 8800GT(S,X) * 4-6K or brand new Radeon 4770 *5k and wait for DirectX 11 made video cards. Windows 7 is coming na kasi eh and from what I hear those GTX-2X Directx10.1 cards will slide price once DirectX 11 cards will be released. they say Q3-Q4 this year.

In my case, I need a video card that works best with flight sims, namely FSX and X-Plane 9. Tradition says it has to be an nVidia card.

Both flight sims are texture-heavy. Even with 512mb video ram, the 8600GT is starting to swap out textures esp with FSX modded to the max. So, I'll need an nVidia card with lots of video ram along with the most system ram I can afford. The latter can wait when I'm finally allowed to assemble a quadcore pc.

btw, still the best and cheapest card is mikmik316 mentioned, XFX 8600GT Alpha Dog XXX.

the Cheapest HighEnd Card is Radeon 4770 . It's the first 40nm VideoCard.

*5K, it is better than 9800GT. and trails 9800GTX and GTS 250. it even surpass them on passmark benchmarks. with more overclocking potential with lesser power consumption.

recent video cards require atleast 400 watts, 26amps, and 6 pin pcie power supply connector. may converter naman sa 6 pin power supply plug kaya no problem as long as decent yung power supply. a lower psu could also take punishment but it could cause lag sa power peak demand.

    I'm actualy runnung a xfx 9600gt extreme ed. on a 385watts 18amp.

a Brand new Galaxy 9800GT 512mb-1gb * 4,800 -5,500php looks scary enough if you ask me.

    or a 2nd hand 9800GTX * 6000php looks scary as a GTX295.

btw ano po ba size monitor mo?

uy, 9500 GT pala video card mo? that's a no good card! hehe...

an old ordinary 8600GT is even better than that.

that vc's 1GB ram is useless. a 8800GT is even more than twice powerful than a 9500GT.

    Peeps

Just bought an Inno3D 9500GT DDR2 (1 gig) video card yesterday.

I successfully installed it, loaded the updated drivers and bought a DVI cable. Binago ko na rin ang settings sa BIOS, na ang primary video adapter is PCI-Express. Mahigpit naman ang pagka-saksak ko sa DVI port

Problem is, distorted ang color. Walang red, and may bluish gray tinge yung output sa LCD monitor ko (HP w1907). Parang nilagyan ng dark tint yung screen. (Yung logo ng Yahoo, imbes na red, kulay gray, among other distortions)

Pero nung ginamit ko yung VGA port ng video card to VGA port ng monitor, ok naman. Ang ganda ng kulay. Thing is, VGA is analog, hindi digital.

    Am I missing something??

have you tried your monitor's DVI to another Graphic card? kung ok lang, isauli mo yan. kung puwede, ipalit mo sa 8600gt kahit 512mb lang.

Nvidia and AMD readying for DirectX 11
Nvidia is scheduled to complete engineering samples of its DirectX 11-based GT300 GPU at the end of September in order to start shipping in December at the earliest, the sources noted.

Yeah, I know. I'm way overdue to assemble that new Quadcore, SLI, Triple monitor system (for FSX). But, the wife won't budge....*sob*

    just as expected...

months ago, the green team claimed they will launch ahead first before the red team. but what I read from reviewers, unlikely to happen...

radeon already has a existing 40nm sold as 4770.

*Jun: ok lang yan... balak ko nga bumili ng used 8600gt eh... ok na rin 9500gt kung wala 86. hehe...

I'm buliding 4 rigs sa bahay eh. kaya budget lang...

To add to this, mas maganda ang development strategy ng ATI. What they do is make a card targeted at the upper mainstream segment (pero kung sa pinas high-end na to) such as the 5870. Then they release a trickled down version almost simultaneously, such as the 5850. Then after a few months when the ever-late nVidia launches their new cards, they come up with a dual-GPU version of their 5870 to get the performance crown, at the same time come up with budget/lower mainstream counterparts (i.e. 5770 or 5650) :D

Kaya in the foreseeable future, unless nVidia changes marketing/development strategy, mangunguna ang ATI. :D

There's new tech that allows Multi-GPUs from both manufacturers to work without any need for pesky SLI/Crossfire software (but sacrificing a bit of performance?).

AFAIK, the video chip is built in the motherboard, which you can't simple upgrade it, unlike a desktop PC.
