May 21st, 2008 03:27 PM #11kung PCI-E ang interface ng videocard mo, try to find a nice but not to pricey Videocard
ex.
Nvidia 7300GT 512Mb DDR2 2130pesos lang sa pc express
ATI 1650 pro 512Mb DDR2 2130pesos lang sa pc express
ok to if your a midrange gamer not running on full resolution
but if your a hardcore gamer then you should get more expensive cards than the list above
like
Nvidia 8500GT 1Gb DDR2 3220 sa pc express
ATI HD2600pro 512Mb DDR2 3170 sa pc express
but if your a hardcore to the max gamer you should buy these cards but i tell you it will really cost you so much
Nvidia 9600GT 512Mb DDR3 8300 sa pc express
ATI HD3870 512Mb DDR3 10350pesos sa pc express
ATI HD3870 1Gb DDR3 20230 sa pc express
but in my experience you must consider the overall performance of the pc..
processor, memory, Hdd, PSU are some big factors affecting the performance of a system
here are my pc spec
Intel Core2Duo e4400 2.0 limited
2GB 667Mhz Kingston DDR2 (1Gbx2) Dual channel
160GB 7200 WD HDD
550Watts Enermax PSU
7300GT 256MB 128Bit DDR2 videocard
ECS i945GCT 1333mhz Mobo
and Manage to play Unreal tournament on it

May 22nd, 2008 12:42 PM #16if you're really into gaming, i wouldn't choose the 7300 gt or 8500 gt even if they both have 512 mb of ddr2. they're still midrange (debatable) mainstream cards. i tried them both and they don't really cut it. many gamers swear by nvidia 8600/8800 gts or the 9 series gtx. if you go for amd ati then go for the XT series. many times it's not about who has more video ram, it's the speed (latency?) that's more important (512 mb ddr2<256 ddr3). and yeah, as one poster said, take into consideration what games you'll be playing. if they're directx10 games, then i guess you'd have to upgrade your whole system to be able to enjoy them fully and right now there just aren't that many dx10 games available. again, the 7300 and 8500 gt cards are ok but check out some benchmarks and you'll see that they fare worse than other older cards.

*Sigh* Three times, I've been to the computer store and picked out a PNY 8800GT. Three times I've walked towards the checkout counter and then changed my mind, putting the card back at the shelf. I ended up with a different impulse buy each time.
It's kind of hard for me to justify getting a new card when I've only bought 2 games over the past year and they both work fine with my now ancient ASUS X800XL. I suppose I'll have to buy a new video card when I assemble a gaming pc for the rest of the family. They get the X800XL while I get a new card for me.
For me, the best bang for the buck is still the 512mb PNY 8800GT.

I went to a friend's house yesterday. He had upgraded his video card to one of those 8800 dual gpu in one board a few months ago. I noticed he had his old video card lying around. It's an nVidia 8600GT. I asked if if I can borrow it. He simply decided to just give it to me.
I took it home, took out the X800XL, and put in the 8600 GT. The 8600 GT didn't seem that much better than the X800XL in most of my games except one, FSX. The 8600 GT was 1 resolution better, I had the land scenery plus aircraft detail maxed out, and still got better frame rates than my X800XL.
Overall, The frame rate increase was around 10 fps (a big deal for flight sims) along with more detail and higher res. Plus, it's DX10 ready. Not bad for a freebie.
The 8600 GT is an XFX with 512 mb and a core speed of 540 mhz.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; June 28th, 2008 at 09:45 PM.
