Been thinking a lot lately of buying a pickup truck or suv para masetup for overlanding with roof tent.

Too expensive for me. Kung pickup truck, meron 4x4 sa 1.3 to 1.6M variants, mas affordable.

I'm also considering 2nd hand suvs/trucks. Concern lang kapag 2nd hand yung reliability, so kailangan talaga maiging inspection sa mga dapat ayusin bago gamitin sa long trips. Siguro kung may makitang 2nd hand Land Cruiser 100 series na below 1M at maganda pa condition, why not.
Get the Navara for comfort. Usually ang overlanding starts with long distance paved road.

Just came back from Siruma and San Ramon Trip, d best ang unpaved roads.

    Thanks for the tip 12vdc!

Last time ako nakapunta dyan sa may Caramoan.

Don't worry about warranty when the modifications are made in the bed(though ask mo narin if the roofrails can be installed), they are designed to be re-purposed. Ang iwasan lang mag splice sa electrical and cutting the bumpers. I suggest din kung mag drill, use SS rivnuts on the side of the lip of the bed para hindi halata. Use the bedliner of VL(over the rail) para exposed yung lip and madali kabitan ng accessories. It doesn't come with bedliner so if dealer offers it for free or fee(usually P15k charged to the P75k discount), ask for the Type-B bedliner(over the rail). The new D23 is 2 inches higher than the older D23 because of dual-rate springs they have to address the low payload capacity and rear squat kaya puno ng gear yung likod ko pero antaas parin compared sa new Dmax/Hilux.

Caramoan is OK but the newest overlanding spot is in Siruma & San Ramon area. If white sand naman that can beat the algal bloom of Boracay, Calaguas Island ang recommended ko.

These are great tips 12vdc, many thanks! I'm still a newbie with pickup truck mods, any tips are definitely something I'll keep notes [emoji106]

I just drove the Nissan Navara Pro4x at MIAS 2022 World Trade Center. I was wowed by the superb comfort factor of the seats and suspension, way way better than my Mazda3 2018 sedan!

I also dropped by at the Overland Kings outdoor exhibit. Very nice (and expensive) rigs they have over there.20220407_142747.jpg20220407_123114.jpg20220407_123607.jpg20220407_123957.jpg

For light trail off-roading, the Subaru Forester's AWD system is still the best among the compact crossover suv models.

Kaya ba i-apply mushroom patch without removing the tire from the rim? I keep a compressor and a few plugs in case of emergency repair.
Maybe the mushroom patches are better to have if same application.

The mushroom patch is done from the inside, tire removal required. This is a proper longterm fix. The stem helps seal & protect the steel belt from corrosion/deterioration.
The plug is done from the outside. Temporary emergency fix, like the messy Slime sealant. Have had these leak after some wear on the treads....will never again do these, plug & slime, unless left choiceless.

Nice! Yan daw yung tinuturing na "New Zealand of the Philippines"
