According to Finnish tabloid Ilta-Sanomat Ferrari has taken his option on Kimi Raikkonen to race for the Italian team next season. The Finn would have signed a five-year-contract.

The story is based on the Finnish tabloid's reliable sources close to Kimi Raikkonen. According to the source Raikkonen's contract is worth around 160 million euro and thus see the 26-year-old earn 32 million euro a year.

Michael Schumacher said in Hockenheim he will announce his future plans in Monza and it is very likely that Raikkonen's plans will be announced shortly after Schumacher's decision was announced.

32 million euros a year? wtf? mas mataas pa sweldo nya kay shaq! and he's not even a world champion!

mclaren better get button FAST and pair him with alonso. or else expect Ferrari to run away with both championships next season.

Undoubtedly... with a good & reliable package Kimi can deliver. IMO - worth every euro!

With Alonso going over McLaren next year... expect a dominant Ferrari next year.

if this works out to be true ferrari would be unbeatable. especially so with the bridgestone the sole tire supplier next year.

but what will evolve out of the schumacher-centered team dynamics?

i think Ferrari would not want to alienate Kimi so soon. They're wise enough to know that

Kimi is locked to a 5 year contract with them, thus they should give him equal treatment

to that of Schumi. Si Schumi, malapit na magretiro. Si Kimi nalang alagaan nila.

It's not over until it's over. Only an official announcement will settle the score. Kaya put your name on the Poll on Raikkonen and let's see who has the real vibes!

Kimi's best choice at this time is Ferrari. Schumi won't be there forever even if he extends for another season.

Or, Raikkonen going to Renault, since he will be partnering with either Fisichela or Webber. He will be no doubt the dominant driver in either case. And Renault is still championship caliber once it gets over the difficulties with its new Bridgestone tyres.

Raikkonen in Ferrari is a highly volatile situation. Something that's similar when Senna and Prost were team mates some years back. It will take a lot of energy from management to handle such big stars in a team. It's going to be exhausting.

Team members should be complementary. However, if Ferrari thinks that they can redirect the energies of two stars to their benefit,- then they should go for it. Of course, there's the prospect that Schumacher will retire next year.

So, we'll see. This is going to be another classic off-race scenario....

That sucks...! I didnt realized Kimi would sell out. Anyway I think Renault offered a 136 million Euro contract which is still way low compared to the 160 million offered by Ferrari.
