MANILA, Philippines – The executive sectary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is calling on all Filipinos worldwide to support Filipino-Mexican-American contestant Jessica Sanchez, who is currently part of “American Idol” Top 4.

She is set to conquer the “Idol” stage once again on Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila) along with the other remaining contestants.

In an interview with reporters, Father Conegundo Garganta said it is but right to vote for the 16-year-old singer.

“With such talent, it’s only but proper for us to help and support her especially since she’s a youth. I think she’s only 16 or 17 years old and she’s faced with such a big challenge already,” he said.

Garganta said Filipinos should also not forget to pray for Sanchez, most especially now since the competition is nearing its finale.

Meanwhile, Garganta said he is hoping that the youth will be inspired by Sanchez's perseverance.

“Whether or not Jessica Sanchez wins, I hope this will open the door for other people to show their talent to the world,” said Garganta.
