I saw it a lot. There's a naval air station near Fallon NV and many GIs, both navy and marines, referred to the Philippines as "P-I". But most civilians called the Philippines "Philippines". It's a GI/veteran thing. Lots of acronymns in their lingo. Of course, there were also many Pinoys who are GI's or veterans. It's only natural they also use "P-I" which gets passed along to everyone else.

Half the people here don't even know the US once had colonies, much less anything about the Philippines. Once again, except for crusty old GI's who remember being in Subic, Clark, and even Sangley Point (Cavite).

I agree. Basta wag lang tayong maging maYaman. Pinoy is pinoy pa rin kahit san tayo mapadpad.

Yung sa isang thread, porke sa US na nakatira or nagtatrabaho, kahit yung sa pagpopost e "ya guys", "ya those", "ya still", "ya right", ya ya ya ya... mukhang mahilig sa kung-fu.

Naalala ko tuloy yung kakilala ko na bago pa lang sa Tate. After ilang linggo lang yata nag-email at puro yes yes yo na email. hahahaha

Why do Pinoys abroad refer to the Philippines as PI?
